What are your 10 things for Tuesday?

Re: TTT

  • 1. I'm on a train! Train travel is awesome.  (PVD to NYC).

    2. I'm so not looking forward to returning to work tomorrow after 11 days off.

    3. DW and I bought some of those stupid doubles in size in water plastic animals for our nephews... but neglected to realize that they take hours.  But the wonder of toddlers is that even though they didn't change size they still kept yelling "Bigger and bigger, Auntie C!!!"

    4. We adore our nephews to pieces.  Spending a week with them (and the rest of the family) was awesome.

    5. My uncle, who refused to attend my wedding for moral disagreement issues, came over for an afternoon.  One of the nephews said something about Auntie B (DW) and my uncle said "who?"

    6. Although it's a pain to travel to two places over the holidays and to have to choose who gets real Christmas, I'm really glad that once we're with one family we can just stay and not drive all over to different gatherings.

    7. SIL got engaged like a month ago and her wedding is basically planned already.

    8. I really really really (really!) want to have a baby before her June 2013 wedding.

    9. I like both our families - can they all move closer??  (Maybe minus the aforementioned uncle ;))

    10.  The train is still awesome.

  • 1. I am hoping the new music I put on my iPhone will help me be more productive.

    2. Right now I am listening to the Indigo Girls. I can't remember the last time I listened to them. It makes me think about being a young/scared/vulnerable lesbian (vs the old/could care less lesbian that I am now.) LOL.

    3. I don't love cold weather. There are only so many places to take the kids to burn off energy on the weekends. I miss playgrounds, nature walks, etc. At least the kids' toys are being played with since we are home so much more!

    4. Last night we got another reminder why L cannot write at home. She was in her office trying to tie up some loose ends to turn it in today and every time I turned my back, the kids were in there talking with her. It was driving both of us crazy.

    5. I am thrilled to have 2 four day weeks this month and 2 again next month. Whoo hoo.

    6. L is having a big birthday in a couple of months. I need to figure out what to do for it. She says she doesn't want a party - but I feel like we need to celebrate somehow. I would love to do a surprise trip somewhere, but we don't have extended childcare (ie. overnight) nor the finances to go somewhere warm.

    7. I promised L that I would work out with her during the week. Blech.

    8. I am thankful that traffic wasn't too bad this morning. I need to be eased back into it after having a traffic free commute last week. I really wish we lived someplace that didn't have such horrible traffic/commuting.  What would I do with that extra 15 hrs in my week?

    9.  My POS printer is driving me nuts today. It says it is out of paper, but there is half a ream in there. I have stuff I need to print dammit.

    10. Ok, ff to try to figure out this printer and do some work.

  • 1. We have our 20-week anatomy scan this afternoon. I haven't seen the babies for a month so I'm excited. We are both feeling a little nervous since Jen isn't feeling them kick yet. Logically this is OK (especially since she is a first-timer and supposedly less sensitive), but it's hard to be logical

    2. Monday Rachel wishes Last Week Rachel had gotten a little more done.

    3. I'm in love with the Sally Hansen nail polish strips. Once you get the hang of putting them on, they last forever. The box says they last for 7 days, but my experience is more like 2.5 weeks. I wouldn't use them for solid colors since nail polish is much cheaper, but the patterns are super-fun.

    4. Had coffee at home, debating a second cup.

    5. I thought I had a frozen lunch in the freezer here, but I don't. Maybe Jen will bring me lunch when she comes to pick me up for the appointment.

    6. I need to find a week-by-week moving guide. I feel like I'm doing things in a very scattershot fashion.

    7. Is the election over yet?

    8. It feels very good to be off sugar and counting calories again.

    9. I really want a pair of comfy boots. I do not need a pair of comfy boots. Perhaps my birthday thinks I need them though.

    10. My fitness goal for 2011 was to learn to - and build up the strength to - climb a rope. Then I realized that I have nothing to tie a rope to. Perhaps our new rental house will have a very strong tree or some overhead beams or something.

  • 1. I really want DW to start feeling better.  Her sick = miserable household.

    2. Interviews for my new boss are starting sometime this week.  I'm interested to see who the candidates are.

    3. The "How Many Kids?" question is a big one for me these day. Ugh.

    4. My mom is having surgery this week.  She didn't tell me about it until Christmas.  I'm nervous.

    5. Anyone have a get rich quick scheme? ;-)

    6.  I enjoy organizing my 2012 calendar a bit too much I think.

    7. I have to go to our other office today. I'm wondering if I should make it a long lunch or use it as an excuse to leave early.

    8. I want to go to the DC gtg with everyone else.

    9. DD insisted on wearing her leopard print shoes today (a gift from an Auntie).  I think I'm in trouble.

    10. Better get to work....

    2. Monday Rachel wishes Last Week Rachel had gotten a little more done.

    omg. story.of.my.life! lol

  • 1.  I am home today getting things prepared to start school next week.  I am super excited/nervous to be starting my MSW it feels like all the craziness I have been through in the last 18 months has been worth it.

    2.  I was looking back on 2011 the other day and decided that DW and I had a great year.  She got her Masters, I got my BS, I lost a ton of weight, my mom stayed healthy, and we were finally able to start TTC.  Hopefully 2012 brings a BFP.

    3.  While I am happy we are TTC we are both pretty frustrated.  We are pretty sure that this month is a BFN (we will fin out for sure tomorrow) and we are both just super sad about it.

    4.  If tomorrow is a BFN it means that I am up to bat.  We are going to take a month off for pre-testing but here goes the back-up plan.  DW want to keep going but cannot take off anymore work time right now.  If I am not KU by summer she will try again.

    5.  I am trying to get added to a class that is full to save me from a DC commute one day a week.

    6.  I got my books from Amazon for school and they are awesome.  I cannot wait to read them...yes I am a dork!!!

    7.  The Ravens are the number 2 seed in the AFC playoffs.  This is super exciting and I cant wait to see if they can make it to the Super Bowl.

    8.  I got first place in my fantasy football league.  Poor DW got last place.

    9.  DW is going to be grumpy tonight from getting off schedule and going back to work today.

    10.  Dear Maryland, I love you but this screwy weather is ridiculous.  It was been below freezing and over 60 all in a five day period.  Pick one and stay there please.  Thanks, LV

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
  • 1. There has been a strew of preganancy announcements on my local board. it shouldn't, but they make me sad

    2. I want the girls to hurry up and get bigger so i can put my dreams of a "big girl room" into play :)

    3. i have very conflicted feelings about the current status of the kids' case

    4. I cant stand at attorney i'm working with on one of my work cases.  i cant WAIT to wrap this one up and be done with him for a long while.

    5. DW and I are thinking about a disney cruise now that they go out of NY. will we be the only gays in a sea (literally...) of straights?

    6. i'm motivated and ready to lose some weight.

    7. i'm giddy at the thought of DW and I being out of work for MLK day while the kids' daycare is open.

    8. RB's carseat is now FF.  I kinda love it, but feel nervous/guilty about it.

    9. i want to look into getting my real estate license.  but i'm not looking for a career move...more like a hobby/part time job. is that crazy?

    10. what i really should do is go get the mba i've been putting off for 3 years...

Funny. I was just looking at this yesterday! We're talking about doing a cruise when L finishes her PhD. Onboard childcare? Yes, please.

I'm a bit Disney obsessed and from everything I have heard, there are a good number of GLBT people on the boat and no one cares. Of course, it won't be like a R Family cruise.

  • 1. I should be packing.

    2. I concur with CT on my last post and I'm excited to meet 2brides, and others in the D.C. area, sometime this month!

    3. My nana is visiting unexpectedly, which is great, but also, unexpected (and not the best addition to my already full plate just before leaving for a month), but I love her and love the time with her.

    4. I didn't get enough sleep last night. I hope that doesn't interfere with my "last night with my wife for a month plans."

    5. Due to a recent change in policy at my internship site, I just found out I need to provide my own scrubs. Unexpected expense = boo.

    6. I made a packing list but I'm not sure I'll have space for everything. Did I mention I'll be away for a month?!

    7. I've lived aboard, twice, for longer, but for some reason I feel a bit overwhelmed by that. It's either me being silly, or getting older. Although, I know once I get everything done today/tonight and leave in the morning it will be great.

    8. My uncle is dog sitting for us (C's going to visit friends for a long weekend) and taking me to the airport. This is such a relief!

    9. C filled my iPod with all kinds of great music. I have a bunch of books (both fiction and non-fiction) to choose from to bring with me. I'll have a hour commute (each way) by Metro/bus, and I'm actually looking forward to it as some "down time."

    10. Off to have some breakfast before I do a bunch of last minute errands, have acupuncture (ahhhh) and spend the afternoon my C and nana and the evening with just C (ahhhh, or ideally, oh la la).

    8. DP snoring is getting out of control. I have spent 5 of the last 7 nights on the couch, only going to bed after she leaves for the day. She got pissed at me the other night because I walked into the room and yelled her name, and then said, 'Stop snoring'. She thought the house was on fire. I am just truly at my wits end. It is so loud and despite repeated requests to see a doctor/use nose strips/prop herself up/etc, she ignores me and laughs it off. It didn't bother me the first 5 years of our relationship, but in the last 2 years (and especially the last 8 months) the snoring has gotten louder and worse. She needs to go to bed earlier and she refuses.

You might want to insist that she get tested for sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is dangerous for many, many reasons. When I had my TIA I was asked if I had been using my breathing machine on a regular basis.

I actually have a real estate license. :) I took the classes, passed the test, interviewed with an office and never moved past that. They told me I needed to commit 50-60 hours a week and have at least 6months of living expenses saved up to live on. It scared the crap out of me. I would love to do it for real some day, but I feel like the market is so unstable.

So no, not crazy. :) It is my dream job.

yeah, see i'm looking for more like 10 hours a week :P  I know it wont be an issue to take the classes and get licensed, but I wonder if any office would want to sign me for such a small commitment (ie: one or two clients at a time)

i heard they are a ton of fun for kids and actually relaxing for parents - that would be amazing.

  • Have yet to master the quoting thing - but just wanted to add that my dad ignored/laughed off his snoring (and my mom sleeping on the couch) for 30 years. He now has a sleep machine and he is healthier, they both get much better sleep, and they regret not doing something about it before.

I also snore, but figured out several years ago that regular exercise improves it tremendously (even when I don't lose weight). If that stops working at any point, I'll have to figure something else out.

    1. I am looking forward to a new year. The Pastor gave a heckuva sermon on Sunday. Let's just say that both C and I took it to heart.
    2. The house is in such disarray that I have no business doing TTT, I should be working...plus I have some reading for work I need to review.
    3. Two, I hope all is well with your Mom. I know what it is like finding out things at the last minute. Sending positive thoughts of health and prayers your Mom's way.
    4. I had tamales for dinner and breakfast! YUM-YUM!
    5. I am sad that fantasy football season has ended, but I did win high score twice this season.
    6. Though we totally didn't plan it, C and I stayed up and saw the ball drop at midnight. Thankfully Psych ended at 11:59 and we changed the channel to watch the ball.
    7. Little Man and Peanut are in tantrum/crying mode. Plus, my little Peanut is getting extremely jealous of her brother...patience please Lord, grant me PATIENCE.
    8. 2011 had it's ups and downs...sadly, a lot of arguing. As a result, the Kiddos know our first names. (Honey and Sweetie fly out the window when we are mad.)
    9. C and I had a very positive start to this new year, and with the aforementioned sermon we are committed to lessen the arguing. PLUS, both Kiddos are officially out of our bed! YES!
    10. I wish everyone the very best of the best this coming year. Strong positive vibes to K and L as they journey forth earning their PhD! (May they both remember that they are probably smarter than their committee chair, so they shouldn't take the red ink to heart.) 2brides and Two, make sure to pamper yourselves, being the spouse of a PhD candidate is not easy, especially with little ones.

  • 1. Please please please sign us up for the Disney family cruise. I SOOOOO want to take E on one and it would be WAY more fun with you all!!!

    2. I wish we could make it to the DC meetup. Pout.

    3. I didn't get as many chores done this weekend as I had planned but I did spend some time chilling on the couch which I rarely ever do.

    4. Probably good to get that chilling out of my system now since the next 3 months are looking to be super busy.

    5. Last Thursday I went and toured where my new office will be and met some of the docs I'll be working with. The building is beautiful and the people are great. I'll no longer have a window in my office. That will take some getting used to...

    6. But I will trade my window for more time at home. I can't wait to cut my commute down.

    7. Lots to do here at work in the next month...which is why I'm here bumping! Wink

    8. E thinks she has a loose tooth. It feels like maybe but not really. I think she just wants to lose one because some of her friends are starting to.

    9. Is my baby really getting old enough to start losing teeth? Sigh.

    10. I need to get better about taking my vitamins.

  • 1. I am totally having sex tonight.

    2. I think I have convinced k to seriously consider a PhD program. She was set on another masters degree but I think she might come around.

    3. This board makes me weary of #2.

    4. Speaking of k, she is usually home from work by now. She left on time but emailed her car smelled funny and her phone is dead and has my charger. I am nervous.

    5. Remember when phones attached to the wall?

    6. What do you think technology will be like when our LOs are grown? Facebook scares the h@ll out of me, I can't imagine what they will have in 15 years..

    7. Good thing we are going to homeschool N and he will never leave :)

    8. I read the sexist toy subject line as 'sexiest toy' and wondered what got into this board today!

    9. I need some water but the sweetest boy is sleeping on me.

    10. She's home!!

  • 1. Jean - if Noah doesnt cooperate wih your plans for tonight, just drop him over here for an hour ;-) Henry and I are sleep training - why's one more awake baby?? Oh and if K gets her PhD you can just hang out with us while she writes! I'm sure my wife will be working too, lol! And omg C and I often wonder about the future for Henry. Will he even have textbooks??

    2. Speaking of technology, two exciting developments in our house - we discovered instant movies on Amazon! We've now seen The Help, Crazy Stupid Love and Midnight in Paris.

    3. The other thing is that I downloaded the kindle app to my iPod! I am now reading a book my friend's mom wrote.

    4. This weekend we are overnight babysitting for my 5.5 year old half brother (yes, h's 5.5 year old uncle, lol). I'm happy to give my mom a break, but not looking forward to not getting one of my own - especially after having a high energy 5 year old here for 24 hours!

    5. BUT the following weekend I'm going out in the city with two of my best friends! After bedtime!! Guys (and one lesbian mama lol) night out!! Wahoo!!

    6. Tomorrow H and I are starting a new sports/gym class. I hear there's a trampoline - can't wait to see him try that out!

  • 1. I am drinking apple cider my family made in October (that we froze) and it is SOOOO good.  I always forget how good it is when I haven't had any in a while.

    2. I'm jealous of the Bumping that goes on during the day.  I can't Bump at work, my phone doesn't want to let me (I can read but not respond) and I don't get home until 7ish, so I always feel like the last one to the party.

    3.  Speaking of being the last one to the party, I did not respond to the sex poll since I am not a parent, but I'll just say it made me feel quite, um, relieved.

    4. I planted garlic a couple of months ago.  It is supposed to sprout in the fall, then you mulch it to protect it from the cold, then it comes up again in the spring and you harvest in the summer.  Well, mine sprouted but I never mulched it because it's been so warm and I've been lazy.  Tonight it's supposed to drop to 8...so all of a sudden I got worried that it was going to die if I didn't cover it.  When I got home from work I went outside in the dark and cold (currently 17 degrees), scraped dead leaves up out of the garden, found the sprouts with a flash light, and covered them up with leaves which will probably just blow away.  It's moments like this when I think my neighbors probably call me insane.

    5. What I really need for #4 are the branches from my Christmas tree, which we cut up and use for mulch and firewood.  But it's still up and I'm SO not motivated to un-decorate it and cut it up.

    6. Today I went into my boss' office and told her I'm going in late tomorrow to have blood drawn, I'm taking next Monday off for an HSG, and I want to schedule my therapy appointments during my lunch on Wednesdays.  I am so glad my boss is so awesome.

    7. Healthy eating begins tomorrow.  Did I say it began last week?  It did not.

    8. Because of #7, I feel like eating a last-hurrah ice cream sundae.  I have homemade hot fudge in the fridge...but no ice cream.  And it's so cold outside.  Boo.

    9. Lately you ladies are much more interesting than Facebook.

    1. Jean - if Noah doesnt cooperate wih your plans for tonight, just drop him over here for an hour ;-) Henry and I are sleep training - why's one more awake baby??

    3. The other thing is that I downloaded the kindle app to my iPod! I am now reading a book my friend's mom wrote.

    ...

    1. Ha! How about that for a babysitting exchange?

    3. I have a Kobo if you are interested in using it. It might be easier to read than the iPod. I am partial to paper and haven't used it. I can bring it by with the maternity clothes you let me borrow.

And your sex poll response made me laugh out loud! How is H feeling? Let's get together this week!

Oh, and that should have said "what's one more awake baby," of course. ipod.

Cecilia would DIE if I said, "Oh, btw babe, we're doing a babysitting swap with J&J so we can all have sex dates! BAHAHAHAHA.

Thanks for the offer! I think I'm good with the ipod. The reason it's working for me is that it's small enough to go in my pocket and is always with me anyway for my obsessive email checking, lol. It's actually a lot easier to read than I thought it would be. I think I'm just so glad to be reading again that I don't care it's not a book (I do really love actual books).

Henry's runny nose and yucky cough persist. He's on day 6, so he's probably not contagious at this point. But I'm not sure you'd like the sound of his cough and sight of his ample snot anywhere your precious tiny boy! LOL

I will tell her that. My dad has sleep apnea and uses his machine every night. Her moms snores like a tractor and DP's just keeps getting worse. She will be scheduled to see a Dr.

THIS THIS THIS!  I was diagnosed with sleep apnea at 23 with NONE of the traditional risk factors.  My only symptoms were fatigue, morning headaches, and snoring like a chainsaw.  The CPAP basically changed my life (and definitely my sleeping partner's life!)

And if the "I'm concerned your snoring is a sign of sleep apnea" doesn't get her to get checked out, you might need to pull a "I know you don't want to do this for YOU, but you need to do it for ME".

  • We got in late last night, so I'm taking the liberty of doing a ten things Wednesday.

    1. We just got back from an 11 day trip to see my immediate family and some extended family and friends.  It was WONDERFUL.  C was so happy at how warm and loving my family is, and we both had a great time.

    2. It makes me sad that C's family is not warm and loving.  She called her brother twice on Christmas and got no call back.  When she finally got in touch with him, he called her and said "Can't talk now, can we set a phone date for January 7th?" W.T.F.

    3. My niece is a bundle of wonderfulness.  We had so much fun with her.  She is 2, slow to warm up to anyone who's not Mommy, but has so much fun once you can engage her in play.

    4. My sister is going through a TERRIBLE divorce and I just feel like I don't know how to be there for her in the right way.  I listen, I help her with logistical issues, but I just don't know what to do.  Her whole world has been ripped apart (unexpectedly) and she is just in mourning.

     5. My mom is a wonderful Grandma (or Manga, as my niece calls her).  She is basically coparenting with my sister and the main reason this terrible divorce is at least a tiny bit manageable.

    6. It shows that I have come a long way personally to be gushing about how wonderful my family is.  Five years ago I was all boundaries and personal space. That has changed so much.  I have changed so much.

    7. We visited my cousins and got to hang out with their kids, including 2 month old R.  C and I took turns holding and snuggling R and wearing him in the Moby.  We *might* have tipped our hand a little that we are totally baby crazy.

    8. I cannot thank all the ladies here on LGBT parenting for everything you have taught me.  We fielded a LOT of questions about starting a family and parenting, and I would have been lost without all the collective wisdom I have gleaned from this wonderful group of women.

    9. We also got to hang out with my college friends and my friend Chris' brand new baby (1 month!).  Equally wonderful, equal number of questions about how we'll go about making a family.  Chris gave me a PILE of pregnancy/birth books she doesn't need anymore and a month of OPKs.

    10. I have BIG news on the PCP front, but I'll save it for today's thread.
