My New Year's Day Arrival!

After 10 days of bedrest and continual complaining to my un-cooperative doctor, my BP readings were finally so out of control they decided to incude me after my appointment last Friday :) I was so relieved!

My doctor was on vacation the 26th - 3rd, so I had been admitted by another physician at the practice that I adore! She was the only one to finally see how concerned I was about my BP and take action! I went straight to the hospital Friday after my appointment and got my cervidil at 6pm. At 7am the following morning, I started Pitocin. By 10pm, I was 9.5 cm, and then they made me wait! All of a sudden all the other women started popping out their babies left and right. At 1:30am the nurse finally came in to check me and said okay, let's get her out! I pushed for 13 minutes and Abigail Grace arrived: January 01, 2012 @ 0143am. She was 7lbs 9oz. It was such an overwhelming experience. So much waiting and anticipation for that one moment! We were the first baby of the new year to arrive for the hospital! My recovery has been wonderful. Baby is being monitored and treated for a minor case of jaundice but is doing beautifullly under her "tanning booth" as i've called it! I was kept in an extra 24 hrs to get her breast fed as much as possible. We are hoping her labs look good this morning so we can BOTH go home! If not, I am being discharged and she has may or may not have to stay.

I was one of the many terrified of giving birth, shortly after delivery my mom asked what i'd compare it to, I said well the tooth abscess and root canal I had  a few years back were far more painful. I did have an epidural and pretty much slept through my entire process up until about 3 hours before delivery. Gave me the rest I desperately needed to make it thru the night and the following morning. Things didn't calm down after delivery until about 4am so I was so grateful for all the sleep!

Good luck fellow January mommas!
