My laptop is about to bite the dust. Seriously...I need to buy something this week...probably tomorrow.
We have a PC that I never use...but it is perfectly fine and I will have it if i need it...
So, what should I get to replace my quickly deteriorating laptop??
I am a tech dummy...help???
Re: New laptop, Kindle Fire or Ipad?
When DH got me my iPad a year and a half ago, I wondered WTH was I going to do with it. Now? You'll have to pry it out of my old fingers when I die. We are going to upgrade me to a 2 later this month so that I can do FaceTime with him and our families when we are overseas and he is deployed. And, LO will get my current iPad.
If you do get an iPad, be prepared for Caro to LOVE it and claim it as her own!
I agree with Kittylove. We have ipads (we are a 2 ipad house) and a laptop (and a desktop) and I MUCH prefer the laptop to the ipads. That said, my husband much prefers the ipad to the laptop so it's really a personal preference thing. I primarily use my ipad for apps/games for my daughter, a white noise app when I travel and occasionally email (again, primarily when traveling). I just don't really like surfing the internet on it; it's not as clean or easy to me as on a laptop. The one thing I do LOVE our ipad for is using it to control our stereo system and our apple tv but that almost makes it a glorified (though high-tech and awesome) remote which I don't think is what you're looking for as much right now.
I can't comment on the kindle fire though -- I have a basic kindle which I have had for years and I love but it's really just for reading books.
I agree that if I am going to be typing, I go to the laptop. My kindle fire is ok for browsing, reading email, checking up on facebook but I mostly use it for reading. DH loves his iPad but he uses it mostly for watching HBO Go or listening to music and some web surfing.
Personally, I dont think I would ever replace my laptop with one of those but if I still had a PC as a backup then I would probably go with the ipad. It's bigger and easier to browse with.
It all depends on your use though.

I just got a Kindle Fire and while it's cool, it's mainly for books and apps. It's still a little small for good web browsing. There is no way I'd give up my laptop for it.
I don't have an ipad, but did just see that you can get keyboards for it (like this). So depending on what you do with your laptop, that might be a reasonable solution.
