C-section on Thursday

So Thursday 1/5/2012 is the day. An its funny I'm not worried about the c-section at all just the meds they are going to give me. I don't react well to them at all. The only other thing thats keeping me up nights at the moment is the thought that I'm going to have to chase my mom out of the recovery room so I can hold my own son.

Shes always been kind of weird around babies. I'm afraid she'll never put him down or let anyone else hold him and try to give me a thousand tips that I don't want or need. My sister is going to be there and my best friend and my sister has already flipped out on best friend because shes excited and called herself an auntie. Weird.

Surprisingly enough I'm not at all worried about my MIL and thats because of hubby he has no problems telling her to back off and shes been awesome throughout the pregnancy with the no touching and only offering up advice if I ask. Unlike my own mother who tells me to do the opposite of what the doctors tell me to do (she was a nurse so she thinks she knows best) an freaks out over everything. She wouldn't even let me drive me own car back home Christmas day because earlier in the day I was having some small contractions. Hopefully all this worry doesnt come true but I guess we will find out on Thursday.

Oh and it would also help if we could decide on a name for LO. We are still stuck with 5 Wesley, Samuel, Isaac, Tyler, and Hunter.

Re: C-section on Thursday

  • If you are seriously worried that your mom won't let you hold your son you need to make it very clear before surgery that the ONLY person to hold him before you (ther than medical staff) is your husband.  I've heard stories from women who've had a c/s and everyone got to hold/kiss/love on their LO before them and it really bothers them.  This is one issue that you absolutely should not budge on.  It may end up being a mute point anyway.  Most hosptials only allow one person in the OR and recovery so if that person is your husband your mom won't see you until you're back in your room.

  • The name thing is ok. We did not name dd until she was 24 hr we wanted to see her and see who he was, what name fit her.   As far as your mom make the nurses be the bad guy we r used to it. When you get there you will have Private time with the nurses and tell them your concerns and wishes. We r good at getting you what u want and need. They can justify everything with saying it for bonding and to enourage your milk supply.  They will help ou with your mom. At night we decided on  a name when it was just dh, dd, and I because only one person can stay so she will have to leave. It also helps to give the nurses a heads up that she has a string personality.  Best wishes
