Any opinions on the name Ainsley...I like it and am trying to sell dh on it. I looked it up and it shows as unisex...what does everyone think either way? My preference is for girl...possibly with mn Rose.
I've seen this name on both boys and girls, but I feel like it's too feminine for a boy. Either way, I have to say that I strongly dislike it because it reminds me of the word "anus."
My BFF's little girl is Ainsley. I like it. There was a female character on the TV show the West Wing named Ainsley.

I know a man named Ainsley, but he goes by his middle name because he hates it.
I don't like it for either sex. I just think it's a really harsh, unattractive sound.

I can't picture it on a girl because I've grown up watching a man named Ainsley Harriott on TV, who is a very flamboyant TV chef here in the UK. I can only really picture it on him, nobody else.

I like the name Ainsley. WAY too feminine to be a boy's name IMO. I actually kind of think it's almost too cutesy for a girl sometimes but it is definitely a name that would grow on me :-)

All girl to me, if we have a little girl her name will be Annsley Caroline pronounced Ann-sley. Which is a take on Ainsley but I just don't like the was it sounds when you say it out loud but I do know of at least three Ainsley and sometimes people will pronounce it Insley (not sure why) which I can not stand. That is why we put a second "n" to make sure people realized it was Annsley.
I think girl, and I really dislike it. Like pp have said, I see "anus."

This. And it makes me wrinkle my nose up when I say it.
This. However, I have known one Ainsley and it was a woman, so I associate it with females.
This...and its just not pretty.
IMO is girly, but I don't like it either way
Same, but I've seen this used for a girl.
This
Way to close to anal and anal ease
sorry it think it is one of the worst names out there.
My only thoughts are "I hate that name."
AGREE!!!

My association is the FoxNews anchor, Ainsley Earhardt. (Love her smile, by the way.) It definitely skews female to me.
"A new baby is like the beginning of all things--wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities."
It's much more feminine to me.
That said, it's also one of my least favorite girl names. Ditto PPs who said it reminds them of anus.
