  This is probably better off in the cloth diapering board. They have a great FAQ section there that helped me a ton, and just browsing the forum gave me lots of info too. I would also recommend the book Changing Diapers by Kelly Wels for direct easy to understand info about CDs and how to care for them.

  
  

  The average newborn uses 12 diapers a day, so if you want to do laundry every other day, you'll need at least 24 diapers, but I would have at least 30 in case your baby needs more changes than average. Some women buy less diapers and just wash laundry every day, but I think it's more eco-friendly and convenient to do laundry every other day or every two days, depending on how much money you are willing to invest in cloth diapering. 

  I personally have 24 Imagine Smart Fit unbleached prefolds, 5 covers for the prefolds (4 Thirsties Duo Wrap Size 1 and 1 Tiny Tush cover,) 2 snappis for the prefolds, and lots of different brands of pocket diapers and some AI2s (2 newborn Snap EZ pockets, 5 medium Snap EZ pockets, 3 Softbums, 6 BumGenius 3.0s, 1 DiaperRite pocket diaper, 1 Flip diaper, and 4 GroBabys.)  I also have 30 fleece liners that I made with fabric I got at Jo-Anns and I also have 60 cloth wipes I made from microfiber washcloths.  I didn't buy it all at once, I slowly bought some of my diapers new and some of them used on here and on DiaperSwappers.com Buying used diapers saves TONS of money, my stash has cost me about $250. A lot of people will recommend that you either buy a variety of brands and styles so you can figure out what you like (and then resell anything you don't like,) or do a diaper trial. 

  Like I said, I would REALLY recommend reading Changing Diapers and the FAQ section on the Cloth Diapering board.

  I also suggest the CD board's FAQ to get started.

  For the newborn stage we did 24 GMD orange edged prefolds trifolded inside Thirsties Duo Wrap size 1 covers. Once she got a little bigger we did Bumgenius 4.0 pocket diapers and Bumgenius Elementals.

  Our stash cost maybe $400, but I sold back my used ones when she outgrew them and so I'm only out maybe $100 max?

  Around $500

   

  Did you buy it all at once?

   

  No I built a stash as I was pregnant and then added to it once I knew which kind I liked best

   

  Do you wash daily?  

   

  I wash 2-3 times per week

   

  What and how much did you buy of what?  

   

  I'm honestly not sure how many I ended up with but I would recommend 24-36.  Mine are mostly BG and Blueberry. 

   

  I'm not even sure exactly what I need... help!
