I'm just wondering about the afterbirth situation. I know it's way too early to be worrying about what to pack for the hosp but I'm more just curious as to how to go about it. I'm wondering if anyone bought underware that they were ok with getting ruined instead of wearing their "good undies" in the hosp. I know they give you pads and all that but as I'm sure we all know sometimes they don't do the trick like they should. Yes I know this is a ridiculous thing to think about but that's just the kinda gal I am. TIA!

I rocked the mesh panties until discharge day and then I wore some panties out of a hanes 6 pack (i am not a 6 pack girl...love VS...so i didnt care of they had to get tossed)
Most postpartum rooms will have 2-3 pad options for various bleeding. the 1st 24 hours you will probably use mesh panties and the 'diaper' pad which covers from belly button to the top of the crack (lol). The next option is thinner, but long and is like an extra super pad.
I also brought stayfree overnight pads to use on discharge day because they offer great protection but are thinner so you dont feel like you are leaving in a diaper...plus my bleeding became more manageable that day
I never leaked using hospital pads...but you will need to learn how to shower and dry off and get a pad on in 30 seconds before you drip blood
OMG!!!!! how did I forget about this. I remember taking a shower and closing my eyes to rinse my hair. I opened my eyes and looked down and thought..HOLY CRAP it looks like someone was murdered in my shower...bwhhahahah

Between the ice packs and the numbing spray they give you even with an episiotomy it's not awful feeling. It would hurt without all that stuff but they do a good job of making mom comfy! Plus if your dr is as good as mine he gives me good pain meds!
Nursed without dairy, egg, soy, peanut, treenut, fish, shellfish or beef for over a year.
Currently tandem nursing dairy, egg, and shellfish free.

Thanks ladies this is super helpful, especially knowing that they gonna make me stick ice down my pants and the time restraints on getting dressed after the shower. It's just stuff you don't know until you go through it or think to ask someone that has gone through it.
While the mesh were comfortable, they didn't keep my pad in place so I had a lot of full change/bed change situations in the hospital. This time I am getting Depends.
In 3rd tri I had bought new, cheap undies a size up anyway (I like Old Navy b/c they don't have a tight waistband) so I wasn't heartbroken when they got ruined in the pp weeks.
The first few days in the hospital, then gave me these awesome mesh ones. Then the 4th day, I got these crappy mesh ones where the elastic was too tight on my c-section scar. I was so in love with the original ones, that I brought them home to wash and use there. I actually saved them for baby #2, just in case they don't have the good ones next time. I know it's weird, but they came perfectly clean.
I think I used those hosptial ones for the first week or so. They stayed up and held the pad in place, without being too tight.

I totally did this too! I have like 3 or 4 pairs at home and plan to take home every pair I can get my grubby little hands on in the hospital! They actually washed up really nice and nothing was better for my c-section incision!
This for me too unfortunately! I brought comfy stuff from home but just ended up wearing hospital gear.
