I am fairly active... I work out about 5 days a week (30-40) minutes with a good mix of cardio and weight training. I have a pretty healthy diet, I love veggies but I have to be careful with the chips and sweets ... Im 8 weeks now and trying very hard to stay in shape. I have focused on putting a bit more effort into my cardio workout (elliptical at a higher level or a very brisk walk at a steep incline) and I still weight train, but avoid weight that are higher than pre-natal workout and nothing that strains the abdomen or lower back. Anything else that I should be doing to encourage a quick jump to my pre-baby body after I give birth? I really need some variety in my workout and I was thinking of buying some zumba and pilates dvds but of course avoiding anything for now that could hurt the baby... thanks!
Re: post-natal weight loss... preparing now
I am a FTM so I guess my advice can only be taken so far but....
I love the DVD i got from Target. Its called prenatal boot camp. It has a multiple discs. The first is pre PG and 1st trimester. then 2nd tri. 3rd tri. Then it has post natal 10 minute workouts for busy moms. I also got prenantal yoga on DVD and go to actual classes. IMO The best thing to do is eat healthy, stay active and make sure that your baby is getting all the nourishment they need. GL!
I will check this out thank you!
It sounds like you are doing all the right things. With my first, I didn't so much watch what I ate, and I really lapsed on my fitness (and I have always been very active). I gained close to 45 pounds, and I think the biggest challenge was that my body got used to junk food during pregnancy, so I craved it all the time after I had her. I think if you can try to manage your cravings for junk, it will help a lot after you deliver. I did get back to PPG weight after about 18 months, but I had to work really hard at it.
With this baby, I am still working out pretty hard. I lift moderately heavy weights three times a week, and I do interval training or other cardio twice a week. I am still on pace to gain about 38 pounds, but I am eating much healthier. While exercise helps too, I truly believe that eating mostly healthy foods is the best thing you can do for yourself.
