Hi. Yes he was diagnosed with alternating esotropia (inward eye crossing). We saw the surgeon and she wants to do surgery right away, however since we noticed that he sometimes aligns his eyes she thought it (was a longshot) but worth it, so she gave us a script for glasses. Keeping glasses on a 7 month old is nearly impossible. We put them on 30+ times a day. It seems to be helping.
It took us 3 weeks to get his glasses and they are great. He's doing everything else just fine, its his eyes and we hope the glasses help his eyes. He might have to wear them for quite a few years. Anything to avoid surgery in my opinion.
We are holding off on surgery (for now) due to the fact that an 80% success rate of no issues isn't enough for us, however we don't want him to loose depth perception, hopefully the glasses help. We go back on the 18th but considering changing it (again). I found a great group online littlefoureyes.com and very similar stories and most with repeat surgeries. Hard to let a doctor make the call when medicine is not an exact science.
Thanks for asking about DS, its appreciated! The crazy part is neither one of us really wear glasses or have eye issues.
I would probably do the same thing. Avoid the surgery if possible. If it is needed you will probably feel better if you do it when he is older. Hopefully, the glasses will help. Glad to hear that he is doing better already.
