Trying NOT to go into labor?

Hi ladies,

I'm just as eager for our LO to be here as are all of you...but my husband is going out of town (1500+ miles away!) for an unavoidable work trip this weekend (Thursday-Saturday evening) and I really, really do NOT want to go into labor then. My plan is to just take it easy and rest as much as possible when he is gone. What else can I do so that I don't trigger labor? I'm easing up on exercise, staying hydrated, avoiding sex (!), and just trying to stay healthy.

  • I think taking it easy, cutting out the exercise and most especially staying hydrated is your best bet, since dehydration can bring on contractions, although you know if Baby decides to come, there's nothing stopping it!

  • I don't want to go into labor either :) But mostly b/c I'm afraid of L&D again, DD's went perfect so I figure what are the chances I'd have two perfect deliveries???  And I'm also afraid of having two kids...or actually how in the world i will handle it!  I'm freaked out.

And would you believe this.....for the first time in my life I'm craving spicy foods, super horny (sorry for the tmi), wanting to exercise, etc.  It seems like my body is wanting me to go through all of the OWTs but my brain is trying to distract it from it!  Kinda ridiculous, huh?

  • Same here. DH is traveling Thursday am through Saturday evening, but he'll only be 4 hours away by car. I also have a high-strung 2 year old that I'll be handling by myself. I got a prenatal massage today and I'm hoping it made baby comfortable enough to stay put for another week at least.
