I know a lot of us have goodreads accounts. What do you think of holding the discussions on there instead of TB?
For those that don't have goodreads accounts, would you be willing to sign up for one?
I was just thinking this idea might work in case some of the PGALers or PALers are afraid to join in the discussion due to their siggies. This way, there are no siggies involved. But I also understand it might be a hassle for those who do not have a goodreads account and really don't want to get one just for this book club.
Let me know what you think!
ETA: I did start a group on there and called it After A Loss Book Club, just to see what it was like. I do notice when you join the group it does show up in your profile feeds that you joined it. I know some people may not like this. So maybe moving the group isn't a good idea. I would hate to exclude anyone.
ETA 2: However, maybe for those that like the idea of a goodreads group, we can keep it on there to discuss ideas for future book choices in the polls. We can also use it to write down questions for the current book as we are reading {but we don't answer them yet!}. Not sure if this link will work. https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/60901.After_A_Loss_Book_Club
I'm once again just throwing things out there. Ideas to make it easier, better and all that jazz. Or, just tell me, "Cashews, keep it the same d@mn way as it's always been!"
We're going to keep everything on TB. All of the polls, discussions and such! Remember, we changed the book club so that it is open to ALL After A Loss members. TTCAL, PGAL and PAL. All women are welcome!!
We will be keeping the After A Loss Book Club group on goodreads just for further discussions, book suggestions, or finding new reads after you finish the book club book. You do not have to join the goodreads group to get the full fun-ness of the book club here on TB. It's just an extra bonus if you want it.

That's another reason why I was thinking it was not a good idea. I would hate for someone not participating just because we moved it.

I did mention in the January post that all siggies are welcome. But I always fear there are the few who still don't want to post due to them. Not sure if it's true, but it's the side of me who wants to please everyone. It doesn't come out often, but when it does, I try too much.

This lol. I finished the book in a sitting, other than Hunger Games next I'm not sure what else to read.
Im glad I'm not the only one! I'll have to try Hunger Games. I was looking for another good one. It's been helping to distract myself after this second loss

I'm new and open to anything, though I do like the chat option on goodreads that someone mentioned. Is it free to sign up for goodreads?
I agree with this. I have not been a part of a book club in some time and I am excited to start. But, I have trouble keeping up on TB lately. I am not sure I could keep up with other sites-though I did send a request to join the goodreads club since I do have an account.
I think it's a great idea and for those are that are concerned about personal information just create an account just for this group.
Cashew-I may be wrong but is there a way to create a private group on Goodreads. I'm a member but I'm not sure about the creating groups part.
Perfect, thanks!!
Well Heather, you did a great job with it that I wanted to keep it going!! I think opening it up to all SALers as well was a great decision, it'll just take a little to get used to.
I agree, after thinking about the idea more.... we'll keep it on TB. The main discussion, polls, etc. will stay the same. I will keep the goodreads group for those that like it for further discussion or book suggestions. Also to get suggestions for when you finish the book club book. But all major points of the club will be on TB.
Thank you all for the input!

Well in goodreads it's not in chat form. It's still in discussion form like it is here on TB.
I know I thought about a chatzy room in the past. The only issue I had with that, is if you were late to the chat, you would have missed a lot of the discussion. And aren't the rooms limited to 10 people at a time? Or something like that?
I think keeping in on TB is the best all around. Let's just hope on the discussion day it's error free!
