2nd Trimester

placenta location=gender guess??

I remember in first tri, people were making gender guesses based on placenta location in uterus. Right side=boy, left side=girl according to the studies. Well, I don't know what side mine is on. But I also always have a hard stomach on my right lower abdomen but its softer/squishier on the left side. Do you think that means mine is implanted on the right side?? Or is this a bogus nonsense observation on my part?

Re: placenta location=gender guess??

  • Someone posted about this on May 2012 a few weeks ago, but she said it depended on where the baby implanted and was only accurate if you saw an early ultrasound.

In any case, it was wrong for me :)

Also, the majority of placentas are posterior, meaning that the placenta is on the part of your uterus closer to your back so you won't be able to feel it through your belly. Some people have anterior placentas but I've never heard that they can feel a difference in their belly.

This. Its bogus, just like the rest....and I have an anterior placenta that is way up high... yet, most of her kicks are low. And the only reason I suspected an anterior placenta was because I hadn't felt her movement as soon and frequent as I did with my son.

  • Nothing will tell you the sex of the baby until you confirm it. The rest are all wive's tales. The chinese calendar prediction, how high/low you carry, m/s ... nothing will predict the gender of your baby :) But that A/S will! I'm looking forward to mine.

    Good luck!

  • You're feeling baby's position. The hard part is back/bum and the soft part is curled up legs and arms. I have an anterior placenta, and I can tell by feeling my uterus. The baby's position isn't as defined because there is more bewtween him/her and the outside. But I'm trained to feel fetal position, so I wouldn't expect most people to be able to feel the difference.

Mine is anterior and low. I suspected it too because i felt my first so much earlier.  WE're not finding out the sex, so it really doesn't matter!

  • it only works up to 8 weeks and it is called ramzi theory- and it has to be determined by the tech.  as sometimes u/s techs take views at different angles- as it may appear to be rt or left when really it is the opposite
