  • Well...there was a turn of events a week and a half ago and they totally stopped bottle feedings with Ryan because he basically doesn't know how to swallow.  He sucks and then the milk just pours down his throat causing him to choak.  I've been there twice where they've had to bag his because of it.  We are currently waiting for him to be transferred to another facility that has a special Pediatric Feeding program so he can learn to swallow.  They think his hydrocephalus is what's preventing him from knowing how to swallow and since he no longer needs to be in the NICU (he's been off oxygen for 3 weeks now) they want to send him somewhere where they can concentrate on feeding therapy alone.

Aiden hasn't yet been offerred the bottle.  He has hydrocephalus as well as a cleft palate so two things going against him.  Plus he had a shunt placed two weeks ago and then it started malfunctioning so his team of doctors have been focused on that.  They expect Aiden to need feeding therapy as well.

Right now we are kind of in limbo and waiting on this feeding thing to take off.

    Sad
