successful exercising after pregnancy scares

i have a fibroid and was in l & d for contractions (nothing regular or that changed my cervix) and was told to take it easy. i think the contractions were brought on by a combo of pain and dehydration since i was kind of wearing myself out and i know i wasn't drinking enough. i am a regular exerciser and have been jogging and swimming 4 days a week until this week. i am wondering if anyone had any early scares/symptoms but were able to resume a regular, but slower paced workout regimen. i am almost 24 weeks. thanks.

  • I haven't had any issues but I would serisouly discuss this with your doc before resuming.  I do have fibroids but mine are not in any position to compromise the pregnancy.  I would assume a slower paced regimen would be fine, but really I know nothing about the specifics of your uterus, check with your OB

  • of course. i have no intentions of resuming anything at this time, but i was just hoping that i was not going to be totally out of commission. i was pretty active for my first pregnancy and i really feel like it helped me survive my nearly 30 hour labor and quick delivery. my fibroids are painful but the ob has said after a week or two of pain, i may be in the clear. thanks for you input
  • I exercised through my pregnancy with a full previa and several bleeds.  I know a lot of people were surprised I was exercising but it helps me keep my sanity.  I was cleared for exercise by my OB with the following guidelines...no impact and don't do anything strenuous enough to make you valsalva.  I really took it easy but just gave myself permission to work out at 50% effort rather than 80%.  I'd ask your OB for more specific guidelines.  Good luck.
