XP: Should I get Zofran?

My nausea has been getting worse each day and it's getting to the point where I feel bad for my DD because all I feel like doing is lay on the couch. I got Sea Bands this morning. It may have helped a bit but wondering if Zofran would help more? I had really bad MS with my first but of course, I was able to just lay around all day.

Re: XP: Should I get Zofran?

  • You could try some preggo pops, B6 and unisom and frequent small meals to see if that helps.  I did all of the above, hated the sea bands and ended up going on Zofran which helps immensely.

  • I don't know what I would've done without it! Zofran does, however, make you really constipated. At 9 wks my OB switched me to phenergan, and it has been even better.

  • I am suffering from the nausea too- but not going to take anything. I would say if your not throwing up- and just able to cope with laying around- I would try that ! I think a few more weeks and Ill be better..this is what keeps me going.  But I also have three other children and work full time too...  I just feel the dizziness and nausea is bad.  I was gonna try the sea bands - update us if they work- as I was thinking for $10 for a band that looks like an experice band - was skeptical?

  • I know this isn't the popular opinion, but I think Zofran is WAY overused.  I think it definitely has a place with people who have hyperemesis, etc & really can't keep food/drink down & stuff like that.  But I ch0ose not to use it despite severe nausea 24/7 & some vomiting for a few months of my first pg & in the heat of it now, too.  I err on the side of caution b/c I feel like it hasn't been used in this manner long enough to truly understand the potential long-term impacts it might have down the road on the babies or moms.  Just my 2 cents.

But I totally hear you on feeling like laying down all the time & worrying about how that impacts your other child.  I feel the same exact way.  I just keep telling myself it's temporary & I remember for me last time it lasted through 15 weeks, but got better a little each week after 10 weeks.  So I only have 3 more really bad weeks if it's like last time.  Hang in there regardless of what you decide.
