How long into your pregnancy are you working?

With my last pregnancy I was already on bed rest and not working. But since everything looks good this time, I'm still working without a set date of when I'll stop. I spend most of my day on my feet, waxing people. I can sit in between clients but all I have is a stool, no support for my back what so ever. I'm SO uncomfortable but I feel like it would be stupid to stop working so soon. Anybody else feeling this way?

my job is 60/40 desk vs feet and I will work till due date or doctor orders otherwise. My sister is a line cook and she is on her feet 99.9% of the time in a hot kitchen in the middle of summer in Southern Louisiana (she was due mid-august) she worked until a week before her due date.

However it depends on the person and what your doctor orders.

I work 12 hr night shifts as a surgical tech in L&D. Some nights I hardly get a chance to sit down, some nights I'm sitting quite a bit, just depends on how busy we are. With DD I worked until 38 weeks, I plan to do the same this time. Although it's more to maximize my short term disability benefit. If I didn't have short term disability I'd probably work up until I went into labor.

I'm on my feet most of the day, though I've tried to sit when I can lately. Unfortunately we're so busy sometimes that I really can't sit, because there is too much to get done and I'm pulled in 5 directions at one time. I really don't get breaks...I just go to the restroom when I get the chance & keep food w/ me in the pharmacy & eat as I go. This has been a challenge & I think I may be nearing a point where I can't do this for much longer. I'd at least like to stop a week before my due date. I'm going to ask the Dr. this week about this & what they think. It really will be up to them.

I'm a P.E. teacher so sitting down is not really an option. I technically went on maternity leave at 39 weeks, but only because the Christmas break started. I am now a week overdue and if I could I would go back to work on Wednesday when the kids go...but I already took the time off because I thought I would have a baby by now!!

Towards my last 2 weeks I was a little mentally checked out. Just exhausted. But I could still function My feet and legs were huge though! It seemed no amount of resting them at the end of the day helped. But swollen feet and legs don't really do any harm, they just look funny! So I didn't find it as any reason to stop working earlier.

Just remember, you could (like me) go a week over...or even two. And while it seems like you have a lot of chores to occupy your time with, those things usually don't take as long as you think. I cooked 10 frozen meals in two afternoons. I was hoping that would take a week But it's really up to you and what you think you can handle!

LMAO, I have three other children. Two of them are twin boys that are 2 years old. I don't need chores to occupy my time.

Last time I worked until 36.5wks due to pre-mature labor/modified bed rest although I swore all pregnancy I was going to work till the very end. This time, I want o make it to 38wks. I teach special needs & work 1hr fom home so I don't want to be there when I go into labor.

I have a really physical job but I am planning on working until I deliver. My supervisor said I can stay on the schedule as long as I want then if the baby is still not here I can pick up my shifts until she comes or I am too big and tired to work. I plan on being on the schedule until my due date and then picking up till the baby gets here.

My job as a CNA is pretty physically demanding. I am getting put on restrictions here soon because I'm taking the medication aide class next week. I have a hard time lifting and helping my residents with clothing changes, but I will work as long as I can!

I'm about half and half for standing and sitting. I am in the middle of training my replacement now. I am aiming to work all of the way up to when I have to leave, I always joke that they will have to throw me in someone's backseat and take me to the hospital. I am planning on having my replacement start taking over a lot of the walking around for me the further I get. I get winded just walking through the building and giving tours, since I have to talk and walk at the same time!

Can you get another type of seat for you or does it have to be a stool? Being pregnant and that far along, I'm sure your clients will understand if you are sitting in something a little more casual.

I work an 8 hour shift, 5 days a week, on my feet on concrete, lifting and leaning type job and my doctor just last week told me I'd have to work right up until I go into labor unless some medical reason comes up to not work, then 2 days ago I went into preterm labor so no I'm on bedrest. I guess LO heard me complaining about work and decided to get me out early lol

I worked up until the day before I had the c/s (so about 39 weeks?). The doctor said as long as I felt fine and he was fine, there was no problem with plugging along . I had thought about leaving work around 38 weeks, but then I knew I'd be sitting at home with nothing to do, ykwim?

I am a retail store manager...although I do get to sit some, much of the time I am on my feet. With my DS, I worked right up until the day he was born, due to the fact that he unexpectedly decided to come 4 weeks early.

This time, I plan to take 2 weeks off before my due date. Mostly, I just want to be prepared, should I go early again. I am one of those people who likes to plan for everything and I figure this way I can get my team ready for my maternity leave, without unexpectedly leaving early.

if im not driving around in my car or visiting chefs (I do seafood sales to hotels and restaurants in hawaii), im delivering seafood to locations so basically im on my feet all day. I plan on working until my due date unless my doc tells me otherwise.

I am on my feet all day lifting dogs into/out of the tub and grooming them. I might get 15 mins to sit down between 8 and 5. I am going to work until the doc tells me to stop or until it is time to go to the hospital. Not working so long because i want to, but because it is a necessity.

This is an interesting thread. I'd like to work as close to my due date as possible, but this last week it feels like someone has repeatedly kicked me in my vag and it kills to walk.

It will be "interesting" to see how I cope when I go back to work tomorrow. I do have the option of sitting more, but the nature of the job requires a lot of walking and animal wrangling/handling.
