Breast feeding after c-section

My last baby was seven years ago so I feel like a first time mom... Should I be concerned about medications affecting breast feeding after the c-section?

    I never had an issue with the medications. If you are talking about pain medications, they will not give you anything cant be taken while BFing. HTH!

    I think as long as you stick to what your doctor has given you you should be fine.

    If I have another c-section I'm going to make sure I don't get duramorph in the spinal and I won't take any percocet/narcotic pain relief.  I had a horrible latcher -- I'd rather be in excruciating pain than have a baby that won't latch like last time.  My husband is a pediatrician and said nothing they give you will actually harm the baby, but it may make the baby a bit groggy and make things like latching more difficult for a newborn.

    Nope we didnt have any problems. All I can say though is "Football Hold" that was the only position I could do without hurting my incision then i was able to hold her in any other position after I healed.

    I am an OB nurse and can tell you that all narcotic pain meds are passed thru in tiny amounts to your baby.  These amounts are so small that we do not worry about them after your csection.  You will be on pain meds typically for about 2 weeks.  If you were on high doses of narcotics for longer then there would be concern that this is being passed to your infant.  But for the short period, you shouldn't be concerned.
