GTKY: What's for dinner?

Does anyone have an traditional things they make for dinner on New Year's?  I'm making black eyed peas and collard greens tonight to go along with the pork tendernloin I am making.  It's a Southern tradition to eat black eyed peas for luck and collards for $$ in the new year.  I figure at this point with our IF, I can use all the luck and $ I can get!

  • We had the yummiest blackeyed peas...I made them with jalapenos and ham...yumm!!!!  We also had cornbread.  We didn't eat them last year on New Year's, so I think that's the reason for our bad luck all year!!  We are starting off 2012 on the right foot.  Smile

  • Last year, my dad helped me cooked my DH a true Southern NYD meal, which consisted of mustard greens, black eyed peas, chitlins, candied yams, mac and cheese, and apple pie.

We did get good luck and money but no bfp.  So, this year we're eating chicken parmesan and angel hair pasta.Yes

  • I cooked a pork roast, black eyed peas, coleslaw (cabbage), and cheesy scalloped potatoes. I just took my apple pie out of the oven that I fully intend on topping with vanilla ice cream! I told DH the apple pie is for fertility, he gave me the side eye! A girl can dream right??

  • No traditions for dinner on New Years. This year DH and I will be home alone for dinner, so I'm making vegetable quesadillas (will probably throw chicken into DH) and probably a fruit salad.

  • No traditions for NYD foods. However, we choose not to cook, so out to dinner is usually what we do. Tonight we went to our fav restaurant (Delmonicos) which is also the place we had our rehearsal dinner at. Such yummy steaks!

  • We don't do any traditional NYD foods either, but tonight we're having chicken alfredo ala Costco! We had a late lunch of chicken soup so it's a late dinner too.
  • My family tradition has always been pork, cabbage, and black-eyed peas on New Years. DH and I went to my parents' today and we had grilled pork tenderloin, coleslaw, black-eyed peas, deer sausage, fruit salad, and key lime pie. Tasty.

  • Well, for lunch we had pork chops, cabbage, black eyed peas and cornbread with DH's family.  Tonight's dinner was left over catfish.  Yum!

  • We went to my aunt's for dinner (we always go there for NYD) and had our usual meal of pork, sauerkraut and baked potatoes.  We always have some sort of veggie as well, although it's not the same every year - this year it was peas, but just the regular kind.  I've never had black eyed peas in my life - I guess it's just not really a northern thing.

  • No tradition here. I made Pad Thai for dinner tonight. I'm making turkey dinner tomorrow since we were at MIL for Xmas dinner an it was just ok. I prefer my own cooking, and leftovers!
