The growth cycle of cells changes during pregnancy. It becomes longer to help with the growth of the fetus. This is most noticable in the hair of the body. You hold on to it longer than you used to. That means when you used to grow 5 hairs and 4 would fall out, 6 grow and only 1 one falls out. Awesome for the hair on your head. Not so cool for your upper lip and bikini line!
The hormones fall rather dramatically after the birth and in the 3rd and 4th months after pregnancy, many women will begin to notice their drain start to clog as their hair head growth returns to normal. I also appreciated not having to shave my legs daily anymore to avoid looking like Sasquatch.
I don't have any dark hair on my face, but I definitely had some dark ones show up down my "happy trail" very early on (and I never had that linera negra or whatever it's called) and my head hair turned really dark too. It was noticeable several months postpartum- I had a strip of dark hair where I was pregnant and you could see it was already starting to grow in lighter. It didn't go away until it all grew out. Looked like I dyed my hair while I was pregnant. "They" have said it could be a sign that you're carrying a boy- more testosterone, more hair. Don't know how much stock to put in that though.
Re: Did you get more dark facial hair when pg?
