I hate her birthstone lol. I have one of those Italian charm bracelet things and I got a charm with her birthstone which isn't bad because I have alot of other things on there so it's not super noticeable.

I hate citrine and am going to go with the more traditional yellow topaz. Yellow topaz is a more subtle yellow, less in your face like the citrine. The problem is that they are almost IMPOSSIBLE to find. I'll probably have to buy a loose stone and have it set.
Our family tradition is to give a birth stone at LO's 18th birthday, so I have a few years to have that done for her. For myself I will wait until we have our second LO and have a ring made with both of their birthstones. Again - I have a couple years to buy a stone, there will definitely be a couple years before I find out what the next birthstone will be, lol.
I wanted to get a stackable Mother's ring, but decided since we plan to have more kids someday I'll wait and get one to have all the stones in it. I do NOT like November's birthstone, but it is what it is.
I don't mind the color. I don't like the traditional mother's rings where they place the stones for each of your children. I found stackable rings at Helzberg that I really like and they are affordable. I will get a citrine one and an amethyst (DD#1).
Hmmm... I was also born in Nov and have never heard of citrine. I always had yellow topaz jewelry and wasn't crazy about it, so I haven't bought anything since DD was born.
Topaz comes in various shades. You don't have to stuck with yellow. It's not really about the color, but about the properties and history assigned to the stone.

My husband got me this from Sam's Club of all places and I love it! The citrine is for my LO (and me, I'm a November baby too), the diamond is for my older son and my hubby (both April birthdays). He also got me the matching earrings.
Am I the only one that actually likes the citrine color?? I didn't get anything with his stone yet, but there are a few rings I like at our local jewelers. I don't ever wear anything yellow, but I think the stones are pretty!

When I found out I was pregnant and DD would be due in November, this was one of the things I was upset about...call me shallow, but I don't like it I got lucky though, and she came early, so she has opal as her birthstone. This is also my birthstone. I've always felt jipped by having opal because it's not sparkly, so I just substitute pink sapphires

Re: LO's birthstone
Nope. I've always hated topaz. DD1's birthstone is a pearl, which is also tough for traditional birthstone type ring.
Instead I have a waxing poetic necklace.

my read shelf:
I've never heard of a waxing poetic necklace, but they are BEAUTIFUL!
Our LO ended up coming early at the end of October, so she has a different birthstone, but DH got me one of these necklaces from ETSY for Christmas:

They have birth "crystals" instead of stones, and November looks very pretty to me.DH got me this for Christmas, it's my birthstone (garnet) and hers. Yellow isn't my favorite either, but it does go nicely with the red.

That's beautiful!!! I wish they had one with Opal for me! And I also love the Citrine ring, mbgreen!!
This is what I got for myself:
I had it engraved on the back with LO's initials. This is what I got for DH:
had it engraved on the back with Thankful, Grateful, Blessed and LO's initials as well.
