What does your toddler eat in at home(high chair, Jr. chair, booster, etc..) and why.
We had the IKEA high chair and I loved it (so easy to clean) but we transferred DS into a jr. chair at about one because he just would sit and eat in it so much nicer. Basically I had found a retro one that I redid just for decor in the kitchen and DS loved it so we once let him eat in it for a snack and was perfectly behaved so we put the high chair up and did not look back. It was high up and could go right up to the table so he liked that. But the draw back is it has so many nooks and crannys and is a pain to clean. Also the way it fits against the table is getting a bit squished for DS now (its to high I guess). I'm just trying to decide where to go next... he is only 19 months but does great at the table. He sits in a high chair at MIL and is now great so I guess it is a phase so maybe I will just pull out the high chair again...I usually just go with the flow on his phases.
Re: toodlers at the table (chair question)
We use one of those booster seats that straps onto our kitchen chair & has straps to keep her safely in it. She has the same kind at my mom's too. We still have the highchair out but really need to put it away.
When we're out we only use the restaurant boosters in a chair. She goes nuts if the booster is in a booth (in & out, in & out) and if she's in a high chair she tries to stand up?!?!?!
DS & SS are now eating at a Thomas the Train table. Our table is too high for booster seats and it's just easier for everyone involved.
Yea, DS tries to stand up in the restaurant high chair as well. Those things have the oddest design, the buckle does nothing, haha
DD is almost 3. She recently stopped wanting to sit in the high chair. She wants to sit in a normal chair like a big girl. She doesnt even like booster seats. So we let her sit in a normal chair on her knees to reach easier. At home and when out to dinner.
The high chair we have is a pain to clean, but we keep it for pizza nights when we dont sit at the table. We will be using it for this LO as well.
DS started using the Fisher Price Healthy Care booster at 9 months old when he started hating the high chair. DD started using it when she hit 7 months old, b/c I just kind of hate the high chair too.
DS moved to the regular chair at about 2.5 or so. He kneels on it.
