Austin Babies

So it's true what they say about boys...

DH had DD and DS out in our swingset in the backyard. Both kids were sitting in the clubhouse on top. DH turned his back "just for a second," and DS went head first down the slide.

Little boys really do give their parents heart attacks every second after they turn mobile, don't they?

Excuse me while I go faint.

Dear Bump: You suck.

  • If I turn my back on my one year old for more than 5 seconds he will, without a doubt, be halfway up the stairs. My oldest or middle wasn't like this so it's whole new ballgame for me.

  • Oh, honey. You have a long way to go.  Wait till he's trying to do back flips off the ac unit outside, that was ER visit #2. But they always make for good stories!

Or dives in to a piece of sheet metal and lands 7 stitches in the ER. Oy.

  • Or tries to jump from atop a play table outside into the middle of a (drying) fish tank, but misses and goes straight through the glass. Multiple surgeries to repair his torn up knees & a week at Dell.. Nephew has some serious scars to go with his story.

    Good luck, love! ;)

  • I've heard that boys make you pay for it up front with all their death-defying antics, while girls make you pay for it later with dating, make up, etc.  So far for us it's true.  Our first encounter with his fearlessness came a week or so after his first birthday when he decided he wanted to dive head first out of his moving wagon onto the concrete.  Indifferent  And to think I actually wished for a second boy.
