Breastfeeding

There is hope! Everything can change in a day!

I just had to share that, just yesterday, I had resigned myself to only being able to breastfeed with the nipple shield and the issues that come along with that (potentially reduced milk production, the pain of just dealing with the shield, needing to supplement with formula, etc).  Then today- after using the shield for 2 weeks- SHE DID IT!!  Four separate nursing sessions today where she took the boob directly!  I didn't even have to start with the shield- just had to be patient, let her get a little frustrated and be ok with that and then she just went for it!

So for those that are stressing about this whole process- please know there is hope and everything can change in a single day.  Things are looking up!!  Happy New Years!

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

  • Thanks ladies!  We reverted back to the shield for a couple of feedings today, but I'm positive we'll be able to go without again!
