trimming prefolds...bad idea long term?

I got a bunch of no name blue edged prefolds from ebay that are HUGE.  DD is 20+ lbs now and I just cant see these being anything but super bulky even when she's a little older.  I mostly tri-fold in a cover and the infant, regular and econobum ones I have are fine for that.

So my question is, for those who have bigger kids, do you still tri-fold smaller sizes or do the premium (?) sized ones eventually work out?

If I trim them, what size do you think is ideal?

thanks

Re: trimming prefolds...bad idea long term?

  • I would never trim them just b/c I L's think they'd fall apart unless I re-serged them. PFs aren't universally sized, either (ie, "blue-edged" for one company may be completely different from another). Have you prepped the dipes yet? if not, realize that they'll shrink significantly. I'd probably just buy the proper size PF for your baby and save these for later.
