I feel like people only think of it as being associated with girls because of porn star Jenna Jameson. Which I personally would not want for my child, but whatever.
We did have a student at our school that was named after her dad who happens to be named James but her name is Jameisha. I even know a girl named Jamie after her father James. Jameson on a girl can't work because of the famous Jenna Jameson.
Definitely a boy name. We named our son who passed away earlier this year Jameson because it literally means son of James. To name a girl that would be idiotic, in my opinion.
All the "whiskey" comments are irrelevant. There are many products that include names, but that shouldn't affect the value or legitimacy of it. It was just a name first.
