Get up and walk around as much as possible and as soon as possible. This will make you recovery a thousand times easier. Also, get some granny panties, any other underwear will rub on your scar.
same thing, walk as soon as you can and also empty your bladder frequently in the first couple of days, I noticed that the pressure of the full bladder made it hurt more in the beginning. Don't be nervous, I was too, but I had a great recovery! Good luck!
My scheduled c was awesome. Recovery has been great and I already feel pretty much normal. I agree with pp's. Get up and walk as soon as allowed, granny panties for the first couple weeks at least, drink tons of water (especially if breast feeding). I really can't think of anything else to add other than if you can, send your baby to the nursery so you can sleep a bit. I know some people don't like to, but I sent dd each night so I could get a good stretch of sleep and had them bring her back when it was time for her to eat. The nurses never once did something against my request like I hear other people have issues with.

Bring a couple of nightgowns to wear after the surgery...any pants or boxers will hit right at the incision!
Talk to your anestheseologist (sp?) about nausea and vomiting after you get the spinal. Mine just told me to let her know the second I got nauseous after the spinal (which was pretty much right away) and she started pumping anti nausea meds into me and I never threw up throughout the section. She also had an oxygen mask with a piece of cotton drenched in rubbing alcohol under my nose which helped with my anxiety and the nausea. Something about the smell of that alcohol really helped me not feel as sick or anxious...not sure why.
I know it's hard but try to not be nervous! These doctors do these all the time and they know what they're doing...they're gonna take good care of you:) More than anything keep your eye on the prize! Holding that precious baby of yours!!

The biggest thing to me was realizing that if I put pressure on my incision when it hurt, the pain automatically disappeared. It was like a miracle! So hold a pillow or something on your tummy when you try to move and it will feel so much better. Also, buy the Motherhood Maternity Post Partum C section panties. They hold you together and really decrease the pain, they are amazing!
walk asap, eat a ton of fiber the day or two prior to surgery because the pain meds you get after bind you up and you have the worst sh it of your life about a week later. so get some colace, drink water and get granny panties.
get up often... the more you lay down the more it hurts the next time you get up.
make sure to take the anti-gas meds after every meal - gas pains hurt more than the incision if you don't.... not joking.
make sure to dry the incision VERY well - use a hair dryer on low to dry it after showers. My incision wasn't healing well - not infected, but just not healing up - until I started blowing it dry after showers.
and know that i LOVED my c/s! I had a 4th degree tear with my vag birth of DS1 and it was hell to recover from - 8 weeks + of pain, etc.... my c/s was wonderful - i felt so much better immediately after it than I did after my vag birth... I was up and walking around easily (getting up was hard but walking was easy) the next day... i was able to bond with my babies and not be in horrible pain all the time... sooo much better than my vag delivery!
good luck!
I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
Get up and walk ASAP!!!! The hospital gave me this ace band to wear so I didn't feel like my insides were falling out and it was great!!! Also, drink plenty of water and get the biggest, highest panties (Hanes are great)!!! Don't let anyone make you laugh because if you do it will hurt more than be funny!!!! Take it easy and make sure you follow your discharge instructions!!!!
The belly wraps are a life saver! Get the foley out as soon as possible, the longer it stays in, the harder it is to urinate on your own. Take the laxatives (colace). Stock up on pajama pants, or other pants with a loose waistband. They will be your best friends for the next few months. Use the mesh panties they give you in the hospital (instead of ruining your own). It is possible to shower with the steri strips on. Its so nice to take a shower the day after delivery! I was to scared at first.
Note: The skin above and below your incision will be numb for a long period. Its a very strange feeling. I think it took mine about a year or so to come back.
Re: Scheduled CSection
Great advice above!!
Drink lots of water. It helps with circulation with swelling.

stay ahead of the pain. if pain relievers are offered in the hospital, take them. i didn't take them and man, i was in a lot of pain.
i agree about getting up and walking around. it will help with the healing and also the swelling.
