Baking question (nbr)

I have vanilla frosting and I have cocoa powder.  I really don't feel like running to the store but need chocolate frosting.  Do you think if I whipped these 2 things in my kitchen aid it would come close to chocolate frosting?

Re: Baking question (nbr)

  • You might need to add a little sugar (powdered), in case the cocoa makes it too bitter, but I don't see why this wouldn't work.
    Pass the sheet cake.

  • I hope this isn't weird bc I'm not a Feb mom but I am a baker so I think I can offer some advice. When I make chocolate frosting I usually will melt chocolate chips and mix those in to my vanilla buttercream. I like this because I can use milk chocolate chips and therefore make a milk chocolate frosting. The cocoa should work fine but I suggest adding little by little so it doesn't get too bitter as PP suggested.

  • The recipe I use is 1lb powdered sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, 1/2 stick of butter, and 1 tsp vanilla and milk Tablespoons at a time until you get the right consistency for chocolate butter cream icing.
