Upstate NY Babies

Roc Girls - Luvaboos

Has anyone gone to their store for classes?  I'm just wondering what kind of atmosphere it is.  Pretty laid back where I can bring a baby and a toddler?  Or is it more where I would need to be focusing on dd the whole time to keep her in line?  Also, I am assuming the classroom is seperated from the entire store so that dd isn't just running down aisles and destroying merchandise?

They have some free classes (a cloth diapering one, a baby wearing one, some story times, and a music class) and some that are $ but in line with other prices I have seen (sign language and yoga).

I signed up for the 1 day baby wearing class bc I want to give the moby a try for ds.  That one I will leave dd at home.  I have a moby that I bought from someone, but it feels very overwhelming to me.  With dd I loved the ergo once she hit about 3 months old, but before that I used the sling that they recalled bc of deaths (yikes).

But I also signed up for the 6 week Tuesday morning music and rhythm classes (if anyone wants to join us, I would LOVE that!).  I called and they said the age group they get is anywhere from 5 months up to 4 years old.  It is free, so I don't mind having to miss it when ds is born.  But I am hoping it is the type of thing I can bring him along and that way give dd something to do and get us both out of the house.

  • Aww crap I just realized that the baby wearing class is a Saturday, so DH will be working, so I will have to bring dd with me for that.  Well, it isn't for a few weeks, so I will either have them give me a crash course on the moby while I am there after music class, or bring her to it if it seems appropriate.

  • The way I learned to put on the Moby was with Youtube videos. There are some really good ones out there and it was so much easier to figure out when I could watch someone put it on. I just used a baby-sized stuffed animal to practice. It's really easy to do once you do it once or twice.

  • We did the sign language class there when Ava was 9 months, the class area is part of the store, but there was a bookshelf type thing dividing the two. I also did the cloth diapering 101 class but it was when it was held at BRU because the store hadn't opened yet.

I didn't know the music class was free, I swear it wasn't when I was looking into it!  I would LOVE to do it with Ava, but I don't know if I can commit to it, especially since I won't be able to drive for 2 weeks post c/s. I also got a Moby that I am going to try, I really should practice with it!

Sign up! The first class is this Tuesday at 10am. I figure I will miss 1 or 2 weeks as well depending on when he is born. But afterwards I am hoping to bring him in a carrier and get some activity for dd.

I have watched them, but I don't get it really. I had to have someone set up the ergo on me even after watching videos of that, and I feel like you can't get much easier than a buckle carrier like that.
