moms of potty trained boys- anyone go straight to standing?

DS continues to refuse to really even sit on the potty, insisting that he's "too small" for the big potty and "too big" for the potty on the floor.

He'll stand and pee in the bath right when he gets in though.  Anyone go straight to standing to pee?  Heard of anyone doing this?  Is this idea absolutely horrible?

    I feel that my sister did that with her 2 boys.  She said she would but cheerios or fruit loops in there for them to aim at.

    i don't think it's a bad idea at all! my oldest would not go on a little potty at all. we had a 2 step stool leading up to the big potty and he used that for awhile til he could get up easily himself. now he's all about the stand up pee (and he did stand up pee at his preschool too (they had small 'real' potties). good luck!!!

    We taught both of our boys to go standing up. They had seen their dad do it so of course they had to do it that way! I was fine with that because I didn't want to reteach them later.

    Yup.  Griffin will only pee standing up, unless he is also going #2.  He wanted to be just like daddy.

    I am pretty sure that some of the boys at L's daycare do this... he tried mimicking them but all times I picked him up he had wet clothes and even pee in his shoes.  Ick!  Maybe if your kid is pretty coordinated I can see it being fine, but I just wasn't ready to have pee everywhere.  L is kinda small though so I think it was harder for him to aim.
