Moms of kids with lots of hair...

 Have you taken them in for a haircut yet? DS's hair is so long that its in his eyes constantly and he's always rubbing his eyes. I have it pinned back with a bobby pin right now haha. I'm nervous to cut it, only because I know he won't sit still.

I guess my question is, would you spend the $25 (that's what I've seen in my area) to take him to a hair salon that can work with toddlers? Or would you try to trim it yourself?

    Micah's had 3 haircuts from 3 different places--all of them kid-friendly.  I just go where I have a coupon, usually pay no more than $15.  He does get wiggly, but the girl is really good with him and just kind of follows his head movements.  Before I took him for his first cut I trimmed it myself 3 times.  It was okay, but I was seriously worried about him being too wiggly for me and me making it look terrible and uneven.

    We take SDS to the local barbar. He is a horror show but they manage to give him a great cut and its only $8! SCORE!!!

    My DD has tons of hair but we're not cutting it for a while, but if she were a boy I definitely would've cut it by now.  And I would definitely take your LO to a salon, I think they are too wiggly at this age!

    Ds has been going to the same girl at Supercuts that dh goes to. She is fantastic and with coupons it is usually $10. Ds has been going every six- eight weeks since he was six months old. We give him a yogurt pouch and let him play with my phone. He's good for most of the haircut but hates the buzzer.

    We took DS to great cuts.  It was $12 and they did great.  She positioned him towards everyone so he could all see them and all the mirrors.

    i haven't had DD's haircut yet but its getting super long already. personally i wouldn't pay that much for a LO's haircut, i'd probably try to do it myself. maybe then if you think your DS will be freaked out it wont be so intimidating if you do it and it's at your house.

    No, I wouldn't trim it myself.  I take dd to a kids' hair place and it costs $15 with tip.  Well worth it.

    Sorry, had to post and run earlier. Thanks ladies! I wasn't sure if I could take him to places like Supercuts, etc or if I would be better off going to a place specifically for kids. I ended up trimming his bangs after his bath like an hour ago. I wrapped him in his towel with his arms inside and had DH hold him haha. It worked out alright. I definitely wont be doing a full haircut myself though!

    Wow! $25!  We pay $8 at an Aveda Concept Salon!  I would trim it myself if that was the only price option!

    We took DS to a kiddie haircutting place for his first haircut when he was 8 months old. It cost $20 and we only took him that one time for a photo opportunity.  After that my DH has been cutting his hair for the last 4 years.  He uses his hair buzzer and sideburn trimmer, not scissors.

    My DS just got his first haircut on Tuesday. The haircut was $16 and I tipped $5 because he screamed the whole time. I took him to a kid salon hoping the would be more equipped to handle the screaming. My DS does NOT like anyone touching him but family, so I was anticipating him having a melt down...I just couldn't wait any longer his hair was out of control.
