HELP ME! NBR

okay so I'm out here in the Desert(Mojave) and our doctors here are just doh-doh heads. they literally keep you waiting for hours with a screaming child,DONT check the charts so every single time you come in you have to explain to them whats going on,& they just don't give a flying f^$k.

Now onto the issue: for 6 months now,yes 6 months i've had this "issue" they want to call eczema, it started as little blisters that popped and oozed clear liquid, went away then came back a month later. NOW all my fingers on the left hand are covered in deep cuts from my skin being so dry, these itchy little oozing bumps and flaky skin. no matter how many creams or antibiotics NOTHING they have done has helped. and the past day it has spread to the back of my hands,my arms, face, legs, and feet. they FINALLY referred me to a specialist an hour away but guess what, i have to wait weeks to get an appointment! Now my hands are swollen,I'm itchy and bumpy and my husband thinks its disgusting along with being terrified to touch my poor son because only God knows what this is and I can't have him getting it. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!

Re: HELP ME! NBR

  • it sounds like you're allergic to whatever cream/antibiotic you've been using... my sister has eczema and if she uses neosporin(sp?) or the active ingredient in it, she breaks out and oozes like you are describing.  The spreading could be from irritation---- or it could be psoriasis (sp?)-- have you tried tea tree oil?

  • My family suffers from eczema.  What you have does not sound like it at all.  I'd almost consider going to the ER or an imidiate med clinic.  If you have open sores, please don't use the tea tree oil, it will burn like hell.  Coconut oil will give you some relief.  Good luck.  I hope they figure it out for you pretty soon.

  • another thought, do you wear a white gold ring on your left hand?  If so, take it off.  After I had my son, I started having alergic reactions to the break down of the rhodium plating on my rings.  Water makes it even worse.  I have to take my rings off every time I wash my hands or put them in water.  It does the same thing you described.  I get little puss filled sores, they split and then bleed.  My finger looks like it is rotting off.  Aquafor helps.

  • Go to the ER.
  • Thank you all for the replies, I have been to the ER along with several doctors here, like I said this has been going on for 6 months and I am just now getting a referral to see a dermatologist because they do not know what this is.Hopefully when I go in next week they can help me get some answers. I've never had sensitive skin or anything and we haven't made any recent changed in laundry soap or bath soap or anything like that. The only thing as of right now that's even giving me some sort of relief is cleaning it with iodine, then using a cream that looks like Vaseline and putting on gloves. even touching water, cold or hot makes it burn and itch. it sucks because I can't even bend my fingers down or ball up a fist(not that I'm going to be needing to make a fist but still) and its making simple things so hard to do! UGH

Is your ring yellow gold or white gold.  White gold is yellow gold coated with rhodium to make it look white.  There is no  such thing as plain white gold.  My body has that reaction when the rhodium starts to break down.  I have to send my rings off every 6 months and have them replated.  It never happened until after my 4th child was born.  Until it gets better, I'd leave my rings off completely .  Dry your hands really well after you shower, wash them or wash dishes.  Coat them a few times a day in Aquafor.  It really helps.
