what to fix DS for dinner tonight

DS is getting over a stomach bug. He hasn't thrown up since Wed night, but he did have diarrhea this morning, so I am still only giving him bland foods. He definitely has his appetite back, but I don't want to make anything worse. Any ideas for dinner? I thought about making just plain rice, but I am afraid I will waste my time b/c I am not sure if he will eat it. He's a decent eater. Not extremely picky, but won't just eat whatever either.

Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA!

  • whenever DD is sick we always go with the BRAT diet. bananas, rice, apples/applesauce, toast. i've heard there's a second T there..but i dont know what it would be for. just whatever you do avoid dairy.

  • I say try the rice. My DS is a picky eater and he loves rice! Maybe plain noodles with some butter? Bananas and toast are also good foods for helping with diarrhea. I hope your DS feels better soon!

  • A nice warm bowl of oatmeal with some applesauce mixed in.

  • Thanks for all of the responses! We ended up going with the pasta with a little parm and olive oil, and he ate decent. Not as much as usual, but I'm assuming his system is still trying to get back on track. He also had a few crackers. I appreciate all of your help!

  • We did the BRAT diet too when LO was getting over the stomach bug.  Bananas, applesauce, and bland things like crackers and pretzels.  LO doesn't like rice either.  Gradually we let him have whatever he wanted.  First thing he asked for was cheese - we let him have it and he did fine.
