Hello Ladies! I am desperate for advice about DD. She is 22 months now and for the past three months has been a very poor sleeper. Due to asthma issues we cannot due to any CIO and it would not work for her now because she gets hysterical very quickly. I have tried the sleep lady shuffle and going in and out of room to comfort etc. Right now our night time routine and nap time consists of using the potty (she is daytime potty trained), reading books, rocking with songs and then to her crib. The second she gets in the crib everything changes. She starts screaming to get out and gets hysterical. With the sleep lady shuffle I was able to get her to put herself asleep int he crib while I sit in the room but it is not consistent on her end. Some nights she will sleep through the night and others she will wake up after two hours. I have ruled out teething (she has her two year molars) and is not sick.
Sorry for the long post but I am so tired and really need sleep. I feel like she is too young to transition to a toddler bed but was wondering if that would help because she really has never loved her crib. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks ladies!
Re: XP: Desperately need advice about DD and sleep.....
This. A short and sweet routine at the same time every night usual helps. Also try not to let her get over tired. That can do horrible things to a little toddler...and your sanity.
My two angels
Mine don't STTN either, and always wind up in bed with me. I won't do CIO, and don't think it would work for them anyway, since they also get hysterical very quickly.
I converted the cribs to toddler beds several months ago just to see if it would help, since they also never seemed to like their cribs. I switched to a video monitor at that point, just so I could keep a closer eye on them.
They actually sleep on the floor now, lol, on quilts and pillows. I lie with them until they fall asleep (since I can't rock them both without them killing each other, otherwise I'd just rock them to sleep.)
Our bedtime routine is snack, bath/brush teeth, jammies, books, lights out.
