got bored. Watched a show Called "forks over knives." Its about eating whole foods, and how the american diet is killing americans. Really, interesting data and info on how to eat better.
But seriously? I could never live happily without my cookies and an occational giant piece of steak. Gotta love those!!! Could I turn my meals into tiny meat portions and large veggie/fruit/startch portions. yup. Could my DH? only if he got threatened by his Dr several times.
Re: NBR food is killing americans....
My DH's philosophy about food is that you only get to live once, so you should enjoy what you eat. He uses it as an excuse to overeat though, but I figure he's an adult and can make his own decisions without me nagging him about portions.
The nitty gritty fact probably is that everything you eat has benefits and dangers to our bodies. We're mortal, so there's no such thing as a perfect diet that won't someday kill you.
The way I see it is, that the problem is with the way food is made-all the additives, preservatives, hormone infused meat and dairy, sugary drinks etc.
And agreed with Debbie, eliminating gluten helps healing your gut (I'm GF as well) The food industry pushes grains on us way too much.
Oh, and give me some nice steak, too...and cookies. But let me make those cookies, so there is no crap in them.
Gluten gets a bad rap. Some people have no problem with it, just like dairy.
There's a lot of hooplah over stuff like this but everything in moderation is generally the key. You could eat exactly what you're supposed to and still get cancer and die or just get hit by a bus crossing the street. Eat as close to whole as you can and lay off the sugar a little and you should be just fine. And tiny meat portions? Protein is good for you, especially if you are active (get organic if hormones are the concern). Protein and veggies, protein and veggies. Learn it, love it. And then have some dark chocolate cause you were good.
