Tell me about Woodwinds

Hey all I have recently switched providers and will now be seeing nurse midwives through Health East and will deliver at Woodwinds. I am very excited because I have heard wonderful things. Wondering if anyone took advantage of the doula program there as well. Is it true that you could get complementary doula services from a new-ish doula there? Any tips or comments welcome! Thanks.

Re: Tell me about Woodwinds

  • I didn't use the doulas there, but I delivered both of my children there. I loved it and had a great experience. I don't have one bad thing to say about them. The same nurse happened to deliver both my kids! Rooms are quiet and spacious, food is delicious! I had a great experience!

  • I'm a FTM and have not delivered there yet but I can not say enough good things about them. I love it there. You can use their Doula Program free of charge if one is available as well as their 'natural' services such as massage. I hope you have a great experience.

  • Both of my deliveries were at Woodwinds with the Health East midwives. I can not say enough good things. The midwives have earned a special place in my heart forever - some of the most amazing women that I have ever met.

The nurses at Woodwinds were great and I received great care during both of my deliveries.

  • I forgot to answer your other question. With my DS's delivery, they called in a doula for me, and she too was amazing. And yes, she was free.

The massages are not free, there is a charge for that. There is healing touch acupuncture and aroma therapy that is free. At least according to the tour guide we had just recently as I hope/plan to deliver there.

  • If you deliver at Woodwinds they do offer complimentary doula services.  When you arrive at the hospital you just let them know that you are interested in having a doula and they will see if any of them are available.  I requested one but my labor was so fast by the time the doula arrived I had already given birth.  I did receive complimentary postpartum acupuncture that was supposed to help me relax and help my milk come in.

I loved my experience at Woodwinds.  I also used the Healtheast Midwives and have only good things to say about them.  They were great advocates for me during my delivery.

  • Love Woodwinds! LOVE. I had two planned c sections there, and everyone I came in contact with was super nice and caring, and the food is actually pretty good there, big rooms, etc. My other experience is from United Hospital and it sucked!
