I just found out I'm pregnant with twins, and am trying to find a good nutritionist in the Philadelphia area (Bucks county...but willing to travel if needed). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I applaud your efforts to look further into proper nutrition for your pregnancy. Twins or not, women are receiving little to no nutritional information with their "prenatal care" and the majority of us accept this as normal and ok. As a doula, I used to have a great naturopathic doctor to refer people to for individualized nutritional counseling, but she is no longer accepting patients. And sadly, the nutritional counselors in the area who my clients have been referred to after having gestational diabetes diagnosis seemed a bit under informed and not nearly holistic enough to me in their overall approach. But, it's possible they may be moreso in other situations, who knows. I only have a limited number of experiences with them. Nutrition is so widely debated, too, you are always going to have different schools of thought. I always try to help my clients figure out the best way to incorporate all the most important nutrients into their particular diet, based on how they prefer to eat already (ex. veg or omni, etc) and based on what her strengths/needs seem to be - sometimes food diaries are helpful. But gestating twins is a whole other story, I am glad you won't be alone in figuring out how to eat for them! I'd be very interested to hear your experiences. I'm in Delaware Co, but serve those in Phila, Montgo, Bucks, Chester, and DE and NJ as well. So anything you could pass onto me I'd appreciate for my own knowledge and resources.
Good luck with your twin pregnancy, births, and babies!
