Ethan James was born this morning at 6:04 am weighing 6 lbs even and 19 inches long. He did have to go to the nicu for about 6 hours for observations because his body temperature dropped, but he is all set now and is on the way to our room!
What a labor!
On Wed, the 28th, I went in and had my first cervical check. I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Thursday, around 2pm, I started having contractions, and around 3pm DH and I started timing them. By 8pm they were bad enough that I was struggling (I have a low tolerance for pain lol) so we head into the hospital. At this point (between 2 and 8... so 6 hours) I'm 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced and so they give me an ambien so I can sleep and send us home (this is now 10 pm).
Well... we get home... and by 2 am the contractions are SO bad I'm screaming through them, and the pressure in my butt is so intense I couldn't stand it. We go back to the hospital and I'm in so much pain they immediately set me up in L&D and do a check... I went from 2 cm at 10 pm to 7 cm at 2 am and almost fully effaced... we JUST made it in time for the epidural (THANK GOD). So they give me the epidural which was WONDERFUL and I stop feeling everything... it was AWESOME. By 5 am I'm pushing, and I pushed for 1 hour before Ethan was born :-)
He came out... gave one cry, then just sat there with eyes wide open looking at everything :-)
I came out in decent shape too... 2nd degree tear but the bleeding is already uuber light so it's not too bad... although it hurts like hell to sit still lol.
There's my story ladies :-) Hope all of you guys have a great new year and healthy babies!!!!!!!!!!!!
