Lately DS has been havin green poop. He is feeding every 3-4 hrs during the day for 15-20 mins. He sleeps at night for one 5-6 hr stretch and one 3-4 hr stretch. He feeds for 15-20 mins when he wakes up. Should I be worried about the green poop.
Maybe...it could signal an allergy (most likely dairy) Is he stuffed up at all? Does he have a rash?
It could also be a fore milk/hind milk imbalance. Do you nurse him on both sides at feedings? If so, he could be getting more fore milk and not enough hind milk. This is why most doctor's recommend feeding on one side until LO is satisfied and pulls off or falls asleep...then offer the other if they still seem hungry a little later.
Lauren...Wife to Jason, mother to Henry (4), Wesley (2), and baby George!
My DD had green poos for a few weeks straight. I asked the pedi when we were there- he said that it can be completely normal and is reflective of where in the intestines the most was being absorbed. DD was gaining weight fine, having enough wet/dirty diapers, and still perfectly happy, so he said it was nothing to worry about.
