returning gifts ?

I can't decide if returning a gift DS got would be "OK" since it really isn't him, doesn't do much, he isn't interested in it at, meant for a much smaller child.....or is returning it teaching him to be ungreatful/ "I'll just return every gift I don't really like" mentallity....  sigh....I know, I'm nuts!  :)  Part of me thinks it is just wasting the giver's $ if the gift will just sit around unused.  also, he would never miss it if I just took it back myself.  oh the dilemmas! 

what would you do?

    Return it. Why in God's name would you waste money and space on a toy that he wouldn't use?

    I'd return it unless it's from someone who visits a lot and would notice. Even then, I might return it anyway and just pretend it's in a different room.

    Return it.  I don't keep things we can't use or don't need.  As a gift giver my feelings would never be hurt, I would want the kid to have something they like/use.

    Return it.  I don't want extra stuff laying around my house.

    Or keep it at an in-laws for visits Wink

    I would exchange the gift for something else without a second thought.  No point in keeping something that will never be used and I don't think that exchanging something you don't like is teaching anything other than to be honest and not to keep something that will sit around and collect dust.
