Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When would you bring your 2mo old out to a party with lots of ppl?

MIL is getting a surprise party this Saturday. We are driving out of town for it. Baby will be nearly 2 months. It is cold and flu season. I have a couple options:

What would you do?

Go with baby, but leave early (we gotta get her to bed to kinda keep up some routine so she feels alright. We notice out of routine=really upset baby)

We both go, but leave baby with a trusted neighbor

DH just goes, I stay home with baby.

  • Go and leave baby home and have babysitter put DC to bed. Let them know what the routine is.

  • at 2 or 3 months, my husband's cousin had a wedding reception. i felt a lot of pressure to go and take my son (from husband and MIL), but i didn't. my husband went and i stayed home. afterwards, my husband agreed it would have been a bad idea. i'm glad i did it, but i struggled with the decision.

  • has your baby stayed with the neighbor before? i wouldn't go too far (like out of town) if I was leaving DD with someone for the first time.

  • Take baby and wear in an infant carrier like a wrap or sling.
  • I'd go, but leave early.  I'm sure it would make an even better surprise for your MIL to have you there.
  • I did it after a couple of weeks; my husbands holiday party was then and she slept the whole time and was fine.  It's not a big deal unless you make it one.  I guess it depends if you would rather have a night out alone or not.

  • When we go out and about with the twins, we usually will wear them in their carriers.  It's the easiest way to be out and about with them without having to feel obligated to pass them around, etc.  Plus, they usually will nap the whole time.

  • I'd go but leave early - at 2.5 months, we were at my sister's wedding and had a great time. ?We left around 9:30 or so which was well past DS's bedtime but as long as you don't make a habit out of it, your DC should be fine. ?We didn't have much of a routine established until DS was nearly 3 months so things were much easier before!
  • We had my Mom's wedding reception a few weeks ago, we brought  the baby with us and he was the hit of the party!  Didn't get sick afterwards or anything, I would say do whatever you feel most comfortable with.
  • We went to a wedding with the baby this past weekend and had no problems.  He was 1 day shy of 2 months at the time.
