Ok so on other boards I found this interesting from lurking.
Eating your own placenta can supposedly help prevent PPD, help produce breast milk, and helps regulate hormones. Do you think there is any truth in this. I coudn't find "facts" that these things are true. But just some interesting recipes, placenta cocktail and placenta "loaf". vomit worthy to me.
Thoughts?
Adding - Im wondering what the placenta in pajamas AE has to say about this.
Re: Interesting trend? Placenta?
Do you think you could get over it that it came from your body? I know they say its suppose to be good but I don't know if I could get past that. Capsule form not so bad. But a cocktail?

I'd say if you want more accurate information try looking up "placenta encapsulation." It's a service usually provided by trained and certified midwives or doulas.
Like you, I've only heard women speak very highly of the effects of having their placentas encapsulated. While it does not seem mainstream and maybe even a little "gross," I'd personally be interested in doing some more research and finding more out about it before I make a decision about what is best for me.
This.
I could blame it on being to early to think about it, but the thought of a placenta loaf at any time of day would make me sick. Yuck!

I've heard of this from some friends who live in Los Angeles, it's popular out that way with all the hollistic mo fo's. I couldn't do it, not even in a capsule format. A friend who did this said it really works, and that you can freeze the capsules for a later date.
I won't be eating anything out of her freezer for a while.
Would you eat a semen loaf?
