VBAC

getting a bit anxious

I am 39 weeks. I had an internal today again and am still 0 dil. 50% eff.

I only have a VBAC option if it is natural, no induction. And my RCS is scheduled for jan 12th (41 weeks)

This is definatly turning to anxiety about "popping" soon. I feel frustrated, betrayed by my body, upset that I had a CS last time(irrational actually) Angry that I cannot induce.... I cryed in the shower this afternoon after my Dr apt.

BLARG!

Re: getting a bit anxious

  • I'm sorry.  I felt this way once I hit 38-39 weeks too.  I was convinced that my body sucked, I was never going to have a VBAC, etc. etc.  I wanted to cry after my 39 week appointment too.  I really think the last weeks of pregnancy are just a total mindfvck, and when you throw the whole VBAC thing into the mix, it can make us feel insane.

But hang in there!  You have plenty of time for things to happen.  Have you tried nipple stimulation at all?  Also, have you thought about not getting internals?  It sounds like it's just stressing you out without offering you any benefits, either medical or emotional.

  • I hear you. I am 37 weeks and already starting to stress about my body not cooperating and going into labor. So far I am progressing the exact same as I did with DS, and that turned into a c-section, so obviously hearing the same thing as last time is upsetting. Have you thought about acupuncture to try and help your labor start up? From what I have read it is 75-80% effective, and worth a shot if you're up to it! That's my plan when I near the 40th week, it can take up to three times, but like I said the success rate is pretty good! Good luck and just know we've all been there (or are there!) so you're not alone!

  • You have two weeks let, that is plenty of time for you to still go into labor on your own.  Don't give up hope yet.  Try everything you can to get your body progressing.

I would call the dr tomorrow and see if they will scratch membranes to help you along.  My dr. did that for me before my VBAC.  It isn't inducing but it could really help.

  • unfortunatly, options like accupuncture or chiropractic are out of the $$ range and not covered by insurance. Sad

I do know some accupressure points from my moms massage therapy.... hmmm.

  • Good luck. Two weeks is a ton of time but I know what you mean. I think a lot of us have that 41 week deadline which just adds stress.
