Please tell me there is a 12 wk growth spurt

DS had a fairly good end of last week, and even did pretty well over Xmas weekend, but things are trending toward the worse this week. He wakes up crying and is generally out of sorts all day. Very few smiles or good awake time. He has also backslid on the BF, and is a wiggleworm when nursing, popping on and off till I feel like the nips are going to come off with him. He fusses and wiggles around so much on my arms that my shoulders and back ache from keeping him safe (he flings his head back even though he can't hold it up so I wind up contorting myself to keep him upright). And let's not talk about sleeping.

Any chance this is a growth spurt? Or should I start drinking heavily? (a joke as I am BF).

Thanks ladies. After a few good days (relatively speaking) over the holiday weekend and the perhaps unrealistic hope that maybe we were headed for better times, to be back in the land of shrieky crying is really no fun.

There is! As far as getting comfortable nursing, have you tried side lying? Nowhere for him to fling himself so you can both relax. I'd also do laid back with pillows surrounding me in case DD rolled away. Much easier on the neck and shoulders.
