Late Term and Child Loss

Because there are good days

I just wanted to write a post about a good day I had yesterday, just to show those with a newer loss, or those in a rut: there are good days.  DH and I went on a hike, we got a little "lost" off our trail and ended up scrambling over boulders and even at one point taking off our shoes and socks to walk through a really narrow part of a river, the water was ice cold!  It was so peaceful and fun out there and the best part was when DH commented excitedly that I was so much more adventurous than I used to be.  I had a big huge smile because for the first time I felt like I was living up to my promise to Peyton, that I would live a fuller better life for him, and take him with me every step of the way.  Yesterday was a wonderful day with MH, I did think of Peyton, but it was in a positive way, the way I hope to think of him more and more as time passes.

  • I'm so glad to hear this.  It's encouraging to hear stories of women having happy days after the loss of a child.  I have occasional days that are mostly good, but I still haven't gotten a full day in without breaking down at some point.  I think it's beautiful that your making choices in your life the way that you would have wanted Peyton to.  Good for you!
