I am having the hardest time finding Avent PES bottles (honey color), which we used with kid #1, who just turned 2.
It seems since then, manufacturers opted to use cheaper PP (polypropylene) for plastics in baby bottles. The PES bottles are a higher end plastic and withstand super high heat... that means a longer life for bottles continuously used in microwave sterilization.
I am a BF'ing mom and both of my breast pumps and all of our accessories and gear are Avent. I really don't want to change to a whole new system and have to replace everything!
What's a girl to do?? Has anyone else encountered this conundrum? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Here's a brief explanation of the materials...
Alternatives to Polycarbonate:PES plastic will retain their tensile strength and form with continuous use at temperatures as high as 180 degree Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit). PES is ideal for the construction of baby bottles because it can be safely and easily sterilized.
Re: Avent Bottles
Really, you found the honey ones? I've looked all over & can't find them
What Babies R Us location is that? I'll happily call & have the store ship them to me!
It looks like you can get the PES bottles at Walmart or order them on Amazon. It does look like you can get them from BRU as well: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3331867

The color is indicative of the type of plastic. PES bottles are a honey/amber color, while PP bottles are a milky color.
Avent manufactured both PES (honey) & PP (milky) bottles; both are BPA-free.
Here's a brief explanation of the materials...
Alternatives to Polycarbonate:There are currently two types of substitutes for polycarbonate plastics, namely Polypropylene or Polypropene (PP) and Polyethersulfone (PES). PP has a melting point of 121 degrees Celcius.PP milk bottles will loose their transparency over time, lessening their active useful life. When put into boiling water or sterilize cycles, PP bottles have a limited shelf-life.
PES plastic will retain their tensile strength and form with continuous use at temperatures as high as 180 degree Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit). PES is ideal for the construction of baby bottles because it can be safely and easily sterilized.
