How much have you gained during this pregnancy. My doc told me to gain only 15 lbs....I passed that a long time ago. She gives me a really hard time every time I go in and I really dread it. Also, to top things off, she is just dry and unpleasant overall. I am healthy, baby is healthy and I KNOW I will lose the weight when baby is here. I lost over 70 lbs before baby and now have gained 40 but I am not going crazy on bad food but I am not dieting either. I know baby is getting the nutrients he needs and I am not worried. Her only argument is that postpartum will be more difficult. Anyone else experiencing this? How much is too much?

this- if you know in your heart that you are eating right and getting exercise I wouldn't get excited about it...as for your doc, well i might let her know that her lectures aren't helpful and that you are doing all you can

Some doctors do that. A friend of mine had a doctor that would get really upset with her if she gained too much weight and made her eat less and work out which I think is crazy. My doctor just tells me that whatever I put on I have to take off after I have the baby and its my decision. I have gained about 40 which seems to be the average and luckily she has never lectured me about that stuff.
I agree and would just tell the doctor that you understand but it is what it is and if you know your baby is getting what it needs that is all that matters.
I am around 12 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight (18 from my lowest pregnancy weight). Dr is happy with this and wanted me to stick around 20ish since I was a little... curvy to begin with
She did get upset with me when I lost 4lbs last week, but nothing about when I *gained* 4lbs earlier in the pregnancy.
I've gained 43 lbs which is more than I wanted to gain but no doctor has said anything to me about the weight. In fact, people tell me all the time it looks like I haven't gained much or that it doesn't look like I'm as far along as I actually am. I'm tall and was a little heavy (prob. 20 lbs overweight according to my supposed bmi targets) pre-pregnancy so I'm sure this all helps disguise the weight gain. I hope to gradually loose it (and maybe more) and get fitter after baby arrives.
I've made sure I've walked every day and did prenatal yoga or pilates for quite some time until it just got too uncomfortable. I hope to take that back up once baby arrives!
My dr recommended I gain "about 35/40" because I started out small. I've gained 31 lbs and still have two weeks to go, so I'm guessing I'll wind up within his target range for me.
I gained 38 lbs with my first and was only 6 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight by 11 weeks postpartum. My only concern about losing it this time is that I'm nearly 7 yrs older and I'm guessing it will take longer to lose/more effort to lose this time...but it will happen...and hopefully by Memorial Day (I spent this entire summer dressed while our guests had a great time laying out and swimming in our pool - don't want to sit on the sidelines hiding a belly bulge again this year!).
