I pumped with DS1 and BF DS2 for 4 weeks each (the nature of my job does not accommodate pumping time). I am planning to BF DD while I'm home, but I just read a post on my Birth Month Club board that said she was supplementing her breast milk with Vitamin D and other vitamins. Is this necessary? I've never heard of this before, neither the lactation consultants at my hospital nor my pediatrician have ever mentioned needing to give baby extra vitamins outside of BM. I eat healthily and take prenatal vitamins when BFing, but that's it! I definitely want to make sure I'm giving baby all the nutrients she needs. Anyone an expert on this? If so, where can I purchase these vitamin drops?
Re: Supplemental Vitamins while BFing?
For any other mom's out there who were wondering... I was able to find this:
https://kidshealth.org/parent/growth/feeding/breastfeed_concerns.html#
and apparently we should be supplementing with a product similar to this?
https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/enfamil-d-vi-sol-vitamin-d-supplement-drops/ID=prod6000611-product?V=G&ext=frgl_Google_Vitamins_&_Supplements
I learn something new every day! Still shocked that no one mentioned this to me before, and apparently it's important/well known?
