Toddlers: 24 Months+

Intro and stuff.

Hi all. My DD will be 2 Jan 6th! Honestly I am not ready for this. But I will have to just deal with it I suppose.

I am wanting to go back to work but the daycares we are interested in will only accept children that are over 2 that are potty trained. under 2 diapers are ok. Because of this DH wants my to be a SAHM. I have been one since May and I dont know how those ladies do it honestly. I love my kids to death but I am losing my mind haha.

Anyways. Any tips and tricks to take the fast route in potty training? We have a little potty chair for her but she would rather have her babies potty in it then her. She tells us when she has to pee or poo but its usually when she is doing it. I hate to try to rush but I miss working so bad!

Looking forward to participating in this board :)

(tantrum advice is more than welcome also)

  • Hello! I'm Julie, mom to 23 month old Anna who will be 2 on January 30th. Being a SAHM is hard! DD goes to daycare 3 days a week just to give momma a break! Whew! I am proud to say that I stayed home with her 7 days a week for 17 months until we started her at daycare. I have no advice for you regarding PT. I am thinking of starting DD in a couple of months, she's already showing signs of readiness Cool Happy Birthday to your LO! Party!!! Winter babies are awesome!

  • Welcome...I don't really post all the often but I will say that I would not rush the potty training.  You can certainly try, but in my experience if you have any kind of agenda or time frame in mind it will backfire.  I would say let your child set the pace, it will save you lots of stress.  I'm sure you can find a quality day care that accepts 2 year olds in diapers.  Keep looking if you really want to go back to work.  GL!

  • My DD turned 2 dec 12 and started potty training a week or so before her bday. She was showing signes of willingness and to make story short we needed a urine test and i didnt want to cathed so we told her it was very important to went potty and she did. She was so proud of herself i think it was what started her willingness. Anyhow if shes telling you while she is doing it then she is prob ready. Its totally sucks but as a SAHM you have the opportunity (we have a nanny which is why we were able to ). Put on real underwear. Its messy the first week or so but they dont like to be wet so they know right away when they have peed. you do alot of cleaning up but usually after the first week or so they start to avoid being wet by telling you in time. you still have to make a mad dash to the potty  but with both my kids in 2 weeks time they were pretty good.
