Talk to me about Go-Go Babyz - Kidz

1) Is it necessary?

2) What are the pros and cons?

3) If it is the bees knees, is it worth purchasing, or should I ask to borrow yours?

We're traveling next week with DD - it'll be our first flight with a lap child. So, my thoughts were to curb check her car seat and stroller her through the airport. However, that's a lot of gear - we're also taking her Pack n Play. So, is it worth it to use a go-go kidz and leave the stroller at home? We don't fly often, and don't plan too...DD is 18 months and this is our first adventure.

Thoughts?

  • I borrowed MC's and I LOVED it!! But both our kids fly in their own seats so there was no checking stuff. Make sure it fits your particular carseat.

We'll be buying our own for our next trip and m_and_m will be borrowing it soon too. Borrow one for sure if you can but if you don't plan on LO being in it on the plane, I'd question if you need one. We liked it because we could make our connecting flight with Abby in it - KWIM?

At the time Emily was small enough we had her in the Moby which might even be better than a stroller and or carseat for your LO (maybe not the moby but a carrier).

Do you have to take her PNP? Can you borrow one from someone locally? That's a HUGE piece of gear to travel with. Won't you have to pay through the nose for that?

  • If you're not going to use the convertible carseat on the plane I'd go with an umbrella stroller.  It'll be way, way easier to deal with.

I bought a GoGo Kidz because I fly alone with DD and she has her own seat so I need the carseat. It takes a few minutes to get the carseat on and off (even with the new strap design) and it was never super secure for me.  An umbrella stroller would be lighter, faster and easier.

I guess I could ask - I'm a little weird about her sleeping in borrowed equipment - right now she's chewing on everything, including her crib the second she wakes up. So I'm more concerned about the germs she'll be exposed to, and leave behind.

I was under the impression that it would be free as baby gear, but I'll double check with the airline. we opted not to get her own seat this flight but may in the future.

An umbrella stroller is a great idea!

  • If you aren't taking the carseat on the plane then there's really no reason to push it through security and to the gate.  Gate check it in a bag and be done with it, along with your pack n play.  I've had pack n plays count as free "baby items" and I've also had to pay $50 to check them.  Depends on the agent and the airline.

If you are taking the carseat on the plane then the GoGoKidz can be invaluable.  I have three and am currently selling one, if anyone is interested.

  • I loved the GGB because I needed the car seat to ride in a car when we got off of the plane at our destination.  We just used it with the seat as a stroller in the airport and checked it at the gate.  Very easy and very convenient.

This was kind of what I was thinking about doing. Good to know it worked for you.
