Almost 5 mths pp and still can't do a lunge without incision soreness

I'm good with upper body strength and speed walking but lunges/lower body strength training still make my incision have a soreness/pulling feeling for about 24 hrs after I do the workout. Does my body just need more time to heal? Or is this just something I need to work past? I havent tried ab work since about 3 mths pp because it made my incision start hurting when I did it then. DS will be 5 mths on 12/31, and I would really like to start toning my legs/hips!

  • Aren't there other exercises you can do? I would avoid anything that makes your incision hurt for 24 hours afterwards, seems like that's a pretty clear sign from your body to stop. Have you asked your doctor about the pain?

  • I would think it's from scar tissue. I have started seeing a physical therapist to do myofascial release on my scar tissue. It has helped a ton with the random radiating pain that I get.
  • I had alot of pain in mine when I first started excersing again, especially with side lunges and reverse crunches. I worked through mine, sometimes even getting teary-eyed. I was really hard on myself, and seriously overdone it a few times. I would just try to ease into it, maybe starting out with a few reps and working up from there depending on how you feel.
